You can't kill zombies with explosives. Most of the ones readily available are shrapnal-based, and unless by some stroke of luck, some pentrates its head and brain, they aren't going to do jack. Zombies feel no pain. Some shrapnal in their body or a lost arm is trivial - they're still alive and they still want your flesh. And if half the world was turned into zombies, most of the people still alive would be pretty fucked. Some of humanity would survive, but a very small portion. We'd pretty much have to start society all over again. Oh, and the best zombie-based fiction is the Zombie Survival Guide. Read it. (edited by asdf on 09-29-06 06:43 PM) |

Originally posted by Dr_Death16Originally posted by killer7I prefer Tarale's idea. Shaun of the Dead is informative and teaches the real ways to kill zombies. Apparently you're not an expert on this subject like the rest of us, because you haven't seen Land of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, nor have you played Killer7. The Zombie Survival Guide was written by an expert, and its concepts are much more informative and real than the ones in those movies and that game. It even brings the point about Hollywood zombies up - and states that if you take approaches like the people in the movies take, you are likely to end up dead. If you have not read that book, you are missing out on important information. Tarale is right though - smashing the Zombies' heads in could work, although getting at the brain with a bat would be difficult. The best melee weapon is a steel crowbar - not only is it useful as a tool, but it is lightweight and durable. And its curved, semi-sharpened edge allows you to do a stabbing motion through the eye-socket, straight into the brain.
Most kill by shrapnel. The odds of some shrapnel getting through the skull are slim and none. They're good for blowing through doors or scattering mobs of zombies, however. (edited by asdf on 09-30-06 01:38 AM) (edited by asdf on 09-30-06 02:28 AM) |

Originally posted by emcee Yeah, say that when a crowd of ghouls is approaching you, moreso if you need to fight back and/or it's in a narrow alley. You'd probably be in a state of fear, and unable to think properly. Ignorance in humans is the undead's strongest ally, intelligence is their greatest weakness. As it is important: here is what the ZSG has to say on "Hollywood Zombies" (edited by asdf on 09-30-06 03:08 AM) |

Cool, although it still probably wouldn't help for PSTers - it'd just mean more ESTers/CSTers would have a chance at around 1PM their time.
That being said, DUKES |

Originally posted by Tarale Not really. What I'm saying is I'd feel bad for you if it happened, but at the same time I'd laugh at the bad luck you had. Although if such a thing *DID* happen by some act of god, Colin allowing you to win would be far more likely. He may be doing it now, just in case. |

Originally posted by Xkeeper Way to think outside the box, X. Yeah, make sure it's good, and really, the rest doesn't matter. Barring that, definitely go with the first option. I think I know what you're getting at (themed stages). But for the love of god, MAKE SURE YOU HANDLE IT WELL. Having a grass stage with an iceberg in the middle of it isn't good. I suggest looking to the DKC games for inspiration on level gimmicks. They can be as trivial as going to the left, as complex as a full-blown ASM hack, or as simple as using a versatile enemy often. And try not to repeat level gimmicks. The good part about that choice is that it keeps the hack interesting. To me, that's almost as important as the level design - hacks that throw one level after another at you with similar elements between every level are boring. Even the original SMW kept itself interesting. |

What was the point of taking a screenshot of your computer screen instead of using the printscreen key?

I have never complied to any of these empty threats such chain letters have made, and I never will. These are just stupid, and none of them have followed through on their word.

Looks pretty good as usual, S.N.N. I'm not sure what IWAE could mean. Ice, Water, Air, Earth? My best guess is they have something to do with the areas you travel to. (edited by asdf on 09-30-06 11:59 PM) |

You people sure seemed bent on getting Tarale to win. I mean, I can understand wanting her to win, but trying to help her by deleting your posts/not posting...wow. Now that's scary, creepy, sexy, nice...I don't know which.

I've had some awesome nightmares before. I never get them anymore, but some of the ones I remember were great.
The second dream I remember having (I was around four at the time) was of this green lizard creature in a hallway resembling my now-former home. I tried to run away from it, but it tackled me from behind and killed me. I had similar dream three or four more times in years after. Funnily enough, one of them was taken in the opposite direction. It started off as usual, but then I turned around and grabbed its claws, stopping them. I forget what happened in between, but end result: I broke its neck. I prepared to finish it off. Just after I curbstomped it, I saw it waking up. Another very strange one is one that occurred shortly after hearing about the "Boogeyman". He approached me in the dream, and I simply said, "let's see 'em." He was confused, so I told him I was talking about his boogeys (snot), and pulled a giant one out of my nose. He was crushed when I lost my grip on it, and I was startled that I killed him. (edited by asdf on 10-01-06 12:19 AM) |

Originally posted by zztman It's rather difficult to earn the 3UP though, as you need to hit it at that EXACT moment, unless you use savestates; which in that case you might as well ignore lives and just abuse them as you need to. And seriously, such "OMG HE KIN EARN XTRA LIVES WUT SHLAL I DO?" paranoia needs to stop. Yes, it is a concern, but some people go a little too far with it. |

Originally posted by Shiryu Fire would burn their bodies, reducing them to ash. It's very unsafe, though, but if the situation permits (escaping a horde, destroying a flammable structure with trapped zombies, clearing a fireproof structure), then by all means chuck some motolov cocktails in there until nothing remains. Electricity can stun them for some time, but it takes nearly twice the voltage as it does to stun a human - so a taser wouldn't work. And cutting their head off would kill them. Originally posted by Shiryu You can fill a zombie with bullets, but the only way you'll stop them is with a headshot, taking out the brain. Originally posted by Shiryu Not really - the problem is getting it and implementing it. Furthermore, not only does it take some time to dissolve zombie flesh and bone, but it is as much as a threat to you as it is to your undead pursuers. It's best you use acid as a way of cleaning up after a battle with zombies. |
