Posted on 07-05-06 07:07 PM, in REALLY BIG noob questions on using luna magic...help please!!! Link
I suggest reading the Lunar Magic help file. It will answer a lot of your basic questions. Also, don't be afraid to click a button or select an option just to see what happens. The editor will usually warn you if you're about to do something dangerous. Here's some of the answers to the one you asked.

1. Right click to place the object/sprite. You have to be in the proper mode to add one (click on the ledge, cliff or shell)

2. Editors -> Overworld Editor Window.

3. Key into keyhole is not a type of screen exit. It's a level-based exit, which is handled by the overworld editor.

4. There's one way. Level -> Copy Background Image. Type in the level number of the level you want to copy the background from. The proper GFX file has to be set, or else it'll look like garbage. But for the first time you make a background, you'll have to do it the long way; setting it up yourself.

5. Yes, it's actually simpler than you think. It's called ExGFX.

6. Click on the color you would like to edit.

7. Actually, those tracks are just nothing. Selecting them can sometimes mess up the sound. In theory, we would use those tracks to add extra music, but until then...

8. I'm pretty sure you could climb that high. But at any rate, the rate at which the background scrolls is controlled by the the dialog box under Level -> Change Other Properties.

9. From the overworld editor, go Overworld -> Edit Message Box Text.

Goddamned Japan. They ruin everything. They even managed to fuck up G.I. Joe by putting him in a Japanese cartoon. He's a real AMERICAN hero, not another subject of your lame-ass shows with more clichés than a Hollywood movie.

Also, I despise anyone who calls them by that accursed name in the topic title. They're regular girls from japanese cartoons drawn in a certain size with colors and clothes that match the theme. Stop speaking in half-japanese words and stick to English, please. Most of us struggle enough with that.

On another note who the hell makes this stuff anyhow? And why? This ties in with the Cars hentai I was talking about before. Why do these Japs and/or Japanophiles spend their time desecrating whatever hasn't been desecrated? I mean, when you start seeing fucking MISSINGNO. hentai (it exists - believe it), you know someone out there is fucked up in head. The same applies to this, although not on as an extreme level. Why don't you just look at normal girls in that art style instead of a bunch crappily modeled after an operating system or a website? What's so special about these ones; a so called "brand-name"? Our childhood memories have probably already been shattered, there's no need to destroy our current ones.

...

...

...

*whew* Got that off my chest. But seriously, minus all the swearing, that is my stance on this. I ask you, all of you: Why do they make this? Why do you like all this when they are clearly just normal japanese cartoon girls, occasionally with decorations from what they parody? I mean, what's so special about them? Why do you speak in half-japanese?

Not where I come from. I have to wait thirty seconds for it to download anyhow, but this way, I can skip the step of going to the source to do so (I'm not downloading the programs so I don't have to do this either: Quicktime is the devil's advocate, but only because RealPlayer is the devil). And as for where to download it, there are various places, which we can't exactly link to.

Two things.

1. Did you have explosive farts?
2. How didn't you know they were fireworks? As KATW said, they should eb easy to identify.

Speaking of mishaps with explosives, my Social Studies teacher last year told stories about how he was (and still is) prone to blowing a lot of things up. He said he once blew a huge hole in the wall at the age of nine (or so) while his parents where away, and almost destroyed his neighbours' barbeque. He was a great teacher, telling us all those stories.

I might make it so you must unlock pipes using the green coins, or I might make it so that you can only access some power-ups based on the number of green coins you have.

You could always make them part of getting 100%. Defined as completing both Mario and Luigi's games, beating all levels on both sides, getting all green coins, and so on. You'd get one big reward for finding everything; perhaps playing as Mario on Luigi's levels and vice versa; and various other little rewards. Here is an example reward chart for the green coins, although you don't have to necessarily use these ideas. At any rate though, the final reward should be worth it and add depth to the game.

10 Green Coins: Unlockable Powerup
20 Green Coins: Minimum Requirement to access final level and beat the game
35 Green Coins: Unlockable Area
55 Green Coins: "Glue Shoes" (no slipping on ice)
70 Green Coins: More Time in Level (timer counts down slower)
85 Green Coins: Unlimited Lives (as in Mario Adventure)
100 Green Coins: Power stomp, an always-active attack that is like the yellow shell/yellow Yoshi attack from SMW.

Fairly old news (at least as far as I'm concerned), but this made me burst out laughing the first time I read about it. I got the joke immediately. Although it's probably more a promotional stunt than a jab at his intelligence, at any rate it's pretty damn funny.

*shrug* It was more of a spur of the moment thing (combined with stress from annoying thunderstorms keeping me off my computer). I didn't actually mean all that racist-related stuff either. Also, have you ever gone into a thread, read it, start a really long post, then just say "forget it" and not post it? Yeah, I do that a lot (too often, in fact), and that time, I instead thought "what the hell, why not?"

Although Tarale's explanation of Norton has reassured me that there is some sanity in these drawings.

I played Blockland with the RTB mod before; it was quite fun getting in a car and running others over. I got rid of it a while ago, though, as it only provided so much entertainment.

I remember when my router was acting up. I could still get on, but it messed up about every five minutes or so. And it was a cable modem. So I feel your pain there. It eventually got fixed, however.
