I checked, and it doesn't seem like it.

Good job on this, BMF. The physics differences between the NES and SNES versions of SMB always annoyed me, so this patch is good.

Not from me, but from one of my online associates not from this site. He was dealing with an annoying female customer (one of those soccer mom types if I remember correctly) and despite his efforts to attempt to help her, she kept being stupid. Eventually, his patience grew thin. Words along the lines of this were exchanged.

Woman: "I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FIRED!"
Him: "Oh yeah? Well I'm going to have you hired, so you can see what it's like to deal with idiots like you."

Do tell us that story, Alastor. Was it that time when the boards were down for almost the entire day?

Well, as Xkeeper would say (something along the lines of it, at least), it's Acmlm's fault for sloppy coding. Hopefully, this mess with the spoiler tags will be sorted out sometime soon.

On another note, it's note Easter anymore. Time to change the thread title, much?

With Mario World Reconfigurator. It can be found at SMW Central. You have to have very basic knowledge of the technical aspects of SMW if you want to use it, and you'll need a good deal of knowledge of ASM if you want to make your own custom sprites. This actually isn't that stupid of a question (outside of the fact that you might be asking for too much too soon).

We can include happy in the new title. Anything from "Happy X posts ATS thread!" to "HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY" even to "Are you happy now?" would work fine.

Only reason I can think of is that Snow Tomato is a wiccan, but that is irrelevant. It sounds like a plan.

Kicking a person's ass over the internet? How, pray-tell, would someone do that? Would they hack the server, find my IP, trace it, then come to my house? Or would they try to flame me or use actions like *[user1] kicks [user2]'s ass*? HAHAHAHAHAHA.

(maybe if we change the title bar into "Acmlm's Board: Wiccans are not welcome" for a day or two, she'll come back...nah, that'd be wrong.)

I have a plan. A plan that could save the boards from less than 300 posts per day! And it is not happy hour. And it does not involve spam.

I'll release the details when I'm damn well ready to! (i.e: when I have the post introducing my plan prepared, which should be in the next 45 minutes if everything goes well)

Posted on 04-19-06 11:18 PM, in Breaking the 'Most users online' record. PART 1!!!! Link
Our goal? To break the current record of the most amount of users online. This record is 60, and was set on the day of the board's most recent opening. Doing this has two purposes. One, to help boost the board up from the current slow state it is in. And two, just because we can.

But it simply won't do to just say "let's break this shit" and go from there. This has to be carefully planned. 60 users is a lot by today's standards. There are usually only 30 users active maximum at one time. This will require a lot of effort on our part.

So, what do we have to do? Just remember the four Ps.

STEP 1: Plan
STEP 2: Prepare
STEP 3: Proceed
STEP 4: Party

This is Step 1. We have to choose a suitable time when the most amount of us will be around to contribute to the cause. We will have to account for potential..."error". Also known as "something coming up in life". This is obviously the most technical aspect of this event, but once we get through this, it will be smooth sailing from here on end.

Step 2 would be to prepare in the hours or days before the record breaking happens. Basically, we remind everybody that the record breaking is going to happen, have discussions about the record breaking, and so on.

Step 3 is when we do it. Try to stay on the boards (active) for as long as possible so those who are away have time to arrive. Failing that, you could use an autorefresh browser function, such as Opera's autorefresh feature, or lololol's RefreshEvery extension while you're away from the keyboard.

Step 4 is self-explanatory. We celebrate after we achieve our goal.

Keep in mind, we need to get the word out to a lot of people. The date should be at least a week away from now, so we have time for many people to see this (and make minor adjustments if we need to). If you have alts, feel free to use them, but don't create alts just for the sake of breaking the record. That's bad.

So, post a good date when you're sure you'll be available (preferably at any time, if not, for the longest amount of time) so we can get on with it!

Oh, it is good. It is good. The odds of it working may not be that good when first looked upon, but with careful planning, we WILL succeed. Besides, at the rate we're posting right now, we should be ready to try anything. Who knows, it's just crazy enough to work.

But they are directly related. When a lot of the more active users are online at a single time (they're usually spread out), there's bound to be an activity increase.

Actually, it does count. And if you can't make the time specified, I advise people to set something like that to happen. However, if you CAN make the time, be sure to be here in person (if that's what you want to call it).

And to all the doubters, I'm positive this will work if we put a lot of planning into it. Although difficult, keep in mind that we can take as long as we'd like in planning this (to a reasonable extent, of course).

In addition, as someone mentioned, we'll need to get the word out to more people, most notably those who don't look at any other forums, ideally by using the board banner. The ROM Hacking users seem to be the ones who do this the most. We need to make it sound appealing to them, perhaps something along the lines of my custom title (except with a link to the topic, of course). Anyone who has spent any time there KNOWS how big some of the..."less intelligent" users' egos are. Would that be considered exploiting them? Perhaps, but there is no harm done to them or us. It's basically a win-win situation.

In other news, the general time seems to be around 8PM Board Time. The majority of the dates specified seem to be Friday and Saturday, or Sunday. Remember, even if you can just pop onto the boards for a second, it'll count. Keep in mind that for this to be effective in achieving our primary goal (increasing board activity), there needs to be a lot of us available and ready to party after we do so.

Considering special characters are allowed in usernames, you could technically use a blank character such as Alt + 0173 to get it to work. Of course, the username colors could be a dead giveaway. But the way KATW wants to use it...meh.
