As a matter of fact, a huge part of advertising (and more) is knowing your target audience. A professional looking site wouldn't have such a good effect when it comes to advertising, except when it comes to much older, more formal audiences. Which there are few of on the internet. By keeping the site design simple, not only would it be more attracting to more people, but it would also make the current and long-time users happy. |

I believe there was another trick in Tetris DX. If you held a piece against a wall all while rotating it against the wall rapidly (counterclockwise for the left wall, clockwise for the right wall), it would slowly go upward. It was useful under certain circumstances, but if I remember correctly, you had to spin them too fast for it to be helpful at higher levels.

Originally posted by Colin And that's a fact. Unfortunately, the U.S. (and to some extent, Europe) tends to get the shaft very often when it comes to special editions, most notably with RPGs. I'm looking at you, FFX. |

Umm...it isn't exactly that. It just adds a couple of extra features, such as a quickpost box and post numbering. The rest is just stuff to help implement the old blue scheme from GameFAQs, among other things. It hardly turns it into "every crappy message board".

The ideas and ways of non-public in-jokes are irrelevant! And therefore, your opinion is irrelevant! >8( (edited by asdf on 04-11-06 11:55 PM) |

Yeah, it was beaten here. Funny too, because it's actually quite easy to top the "old TAS video" time if you know what you're doing.
However, the lack of an NES no whistle warps 100% run on SDA saddens me. There's an All-Stars Mario 3 100% one, but...it just doesn't have the same feel to it as an NES run. |

You could try BMF's smashable blocks for a slightly different style of smashable blocks if you wish. Also, if you're using the blocks included initially in Demo World, I believe their code is erased if you try to use BlockTool. I'm not sure, though.

Meh, I only check out the original site if I need to look up information on an old, old member. I do visit the second incarnation fairly often, however. Mostly to retrieve old ROM/Hack information and stuff.

Uhhh...that's one of the fine points of SMW2 hacking. Since it takes a lot of dedication and time to get one done, you know they'll be top quality. No one else would get as far. And Eggvine still is quite functional. Look at the SMW hacking state, for example. Because of all the features of Lunar Magic and stuff available, things are a LOT easier to do, and there is a lot of room to expand on other stuff. But on the other hand, this ease attracts idiots who make...garbage. It's annoying having five terrible hacks for every one good hack.
See, you need a balance of complexity and simplicity for the hacks to be good and plentiful. Something too complex will virtually guarantee excellent hacks, but they will be very few in number. Something too simple will have no lack of hacks, but a lot of them will be garbage. For instance, Lunar Magic is an example of something far too simple. Eggvine, on the other hand, is just about right, although it might be a little too complicated at times. SMB3 editors are another good example of level editors that are not too simple nor too complex. (edited by asdf on 04-12-06 07:55 PM) (edited by asdf on 04-12-06 07:55 PM) |

Sure. You're a very special person and are a unique member of the community, of course we'll add your old EXP to your current total. Nobody else can get this bonus though, because you're so special.

Originally posted by Schwa Tubular was a joke. Just take a Blue Yoshi into it, and with the help of a cape and some basic floating skills, eat a Koopa. Then just fly through the entire level, skipping all the power balloons. And I killed both Bowsers with fire. Both times. |
