THE QUICK QUIZ V 2.15 !
Originally 2.1 before I was slapped with a tuna
even more originally, v2.01, with more structure and less balance.
and the frue original, v1.0, that only died from lack of time/energy.

Please read this before you play. I srsly mean it. The rules change all the damn time, despite my efforts. Well, not really. Here's the rules -

* Check today's post reguarly for the question. The most recent post by me will get edited after a question is answered, and some time. There are three questions daily. You win 2 points for a correct answer.

* If you are right, I'll send you a PM, telling you you were right. You can only make two guesses in a row. Make your second guess by editing your first post. The only exception is if you're chaining time gems. You can answer again when somebody besides you takes a guess (even if they're wrong)

* Any unanswered questions or questions guessed wrong will result in ME getting a point. The regular win limits won't apply to me though. Speaking of that, the winner is the first one to exceed 99 points.

* On random occasions (actually, about 50% of the time), a BONUS question will be offered. The award for a bonus question will not be revealed until it's answered correctly. Don't worry; it will always be positive. Answering this "bonus" question correctly will reward you with either a "Gimmick", or points. More about "gimmicks" later.

* I've changed the system for bonus questions. Instead of the old way, which was "I pick something and you accept it", I'll instead pump some numbers into a random number generator. Specifically, the one on random.org. Using these parameters, the site will generate a random number from 1 to 100. Depending on what it says, the bonus prize will vary. Your current rank will also determine your prize. The better you are, the worse your prizes become. Here's a table that you can reference for the prizes.

Rank1-2021-4041-5051-6060-6566-7071-7576-8081-8586-9091-9596-99100

Tatrion2 points

"Gimmicks" are like the bonus items you can get in a game like Mario Party, or whatever. They're used to infuriate other users and push you ahead. There are four existing gimmicks, and they are as follows:

STEAL - The most common and (probably useful) gimmick. You can use this to steal the points for a question, even if someone has already guessed correctly. The points for a question become permenantly the owner's after the day's round ends. You cannot use a steal on a bonus question.

THUMP - You use a thump on someone to cause them to LOSE a point for a correct answer, rather than gain. Beware - if they guess incorrectly, and you use a thump before I update, the thump will backfire and YOU will lose one of your points! This results in a net loss of points; both you and the thumped will lose a point. Don't try to edit your post after someone thumps you- if you're thumped, and you edit your post for any reason, the thump will never backfire.

JUXTAPOSE - This is an extremely rare gimmick. By using a juxtapose, you can steal ALL OF THE POINTS of anybody at least five ranks below you. Due to the extreme power of this gimmick, it is very unwieldly; you'll have to use it on someone who's sleeping (That is, hasn't made an attempt at a guess in at least 2 weeks) Oh, and you can never use it on me.

TIME GEM - By far the shiniest gimmick. If you get one, you can use it at the same time you answer a question. On the next question, your guess will get instant priority. If you have multiple time gems, you can "chain" them to answer as many questions in a row as time gems you have. If you answer it wrong, or don't answer in twenty-four hours, the chain automatically breaks, and you lose the last gem you were going to use, but didn't.

Rules about editing

You are allowed to edit your post after you make it, even to change the content of the answer. HOWEVER, you MUST edit it before the next person makes a post. If the edit time of your post is BEFORE the next post, it's good. If it's within the same minute, I'm forced to disregard it, because Acmlm boards don't support the second the post was made.

I reserve the right to edit the rules at any time (disclaimers)

To fit the game as it progresses. I also hold the power to refuse awarding points to a correct response, and to generally screw with the game however I need to. I will make a public announcement that the rules are different, so you won't be caught between a power outage and a flashlight with dead batteries. It can also change from admin influence, since I have no control over that. (that would end in my favor, anyway)

Disregard everything up until about post 270 or so. That's page 14 to you 20 PPPers.

Dihydrogen Monoxide is a more correct response. Since it's a covailent bond, it uses the prefix naming system, and since it has 2 hydrogens and 1 oxygen atom, it is simply named Dihydrogen Monoxide. If you can make a reliable reference to where the term Hydronium Hydroxide is used, I'll award you a point along with Nick's.

Disregarding that, world six was a desert level, so that's right.

I'm a bit amazed this random banning is increasing board posts per day, rather then sharply decreasing it. You'd think about 5 users with banned colors would scare off new users

Then again, a lot of it is jeers at people who fell for it / did it on purpose / whine about being banned.
