Why don't you just use the Yoshi Coin?

It can't go behind fences.

Also, shouldn't this be considered a crack unless the developer released it?

Perhaps I'm just beating on a dead horse, but could you possibly use KHexEdit as a base, if it doesn't already fit your needs? I don't have a problem with opening 4MB files, and with a very low memory footprint.

Well, my dad and his mother can't be here for Christmas Eve, so I got a portable DVD player and $60 that I blew on getting SMA3 and SMA4

And my mother's boss gave me a Christmas card with $100 that I'll just put into the bank.

I'm a bit old school I guess, I love it when I use only the keyboard. I find the mouse a bit too clumsy.

Edit: Whoops, a whole category off. If a mod doesn't mind, please move into General Gaming

I played the demo, a "bit" too sluggish (1.4GHz Celeron; clockspeed is .4GHz above minimum, but it was also made for the Pentium 4!). I think I might buy the full one with a new computer, especially with the RoE expansion pack (heard it makes the game a lot more fun, challenging). Oh yeah, if the expansion doesn't help I'd just download one of the mods that are supposed to make it on par with Ultimate/Doom II's difficulty.

Good in theory, but unless you have highly redundant versioning, it's far too open for exploitation.

Plus, it's not hard to find free hosting for small files that ROM hacks need anyway.

Well, if you're really daring, KDE has in CVS very new and very unstable (possibly uncompilable) native Windows support.... so that means your real hope is either using the existing KDE-Cygwin (old version of KDE, but it works), using a free OS, somehow reworking KHex to Win32, or writing from scratch (x_x)

SMB3 for probably the same reasons as the others. Great level design, features, even the graphics were excellent for the NES.

I even love the remake aka Super Mario Advance 4 (All-Stars was mediocre, IMO). About the only thing disappointing in SMA4 is the addition of voices ("Just what I needed", "Mama Mia!", ugh). Oh yeah, the SMA4 remake even preserves the two player option (called "Mario & Luigi" mode; you share the same GBA or play it on the Game Boy Player for some TV action!), they should've done that for SMW: SMA2

When redirecting back to the thread, can it be on the same page that you deleted the post (provided your post isn't the first of that page, might be tricky)?

Xk: I'm not quite sure you got it... actually I'm not quite sure what you're thinking

The GameFAQs way of doing things (not necessarily bad, it's inspired dozens of developers to emulate that system of message board) wouldn't seem to fit here :/

K, a question for you guys: Is there any point for doing this or what? There should be plenty of resources on this board for making a full-blown editor, but no interest.

With the winter quarter in college about to start, I have just about no time to work on it.

So what you're saying is that you'll make a brand new, open Pokemon-like game? That's awesome, and good luck

I was dreaming a bit of doing a GBA project for a open Mario-like game, but then I thought there's more important things in my life, plus what spare time I have probably'll be sucked up by that SMW editor project. (Unless someone sets up the bomb)

Well there's more than enough free devkits available... if you're using the official one, then I probably can't help due to compatibility issues (I don't know of any that cares to be code compatible with the official)

Perhaps it's done via copy-on-write. In other words, copy only the bits that changed.

I'm assuming you mean "original" as in generations one, two, three, and four. Otherwise you're missing the middle ones.

Anyway, I say video since it's the latest and greatest apparently. I personally have a fourth-generation (b/w screen) and it suits me fine.

Crashman, that makes me wonder considering you mispelt Xerox.

Legally, I thought you're allowed to do whatever you want to a ROM, provided you're the one that dumped it (or somehow got unlikely permission to get it by other means).
