Well, virtualization on hardware that wasn't designed for it is itself a bug-prone process. I've seen operating systems, even ones using Linux, that crash in VMware; hell, Fedora Core 6 won't even install in VMware.

Most of them aren't even able to handle 100Mbps itself anyway, it's usually somewhere around 20 to 60Mbps that's actually done with cheap (~$150 or less) routers.

neo: Shortcuts in Windows *are* files, a binary format actually. The unfortunate thing though, they're not nearly as useful as symlinks are (I've heard rumor that Windows Vista supports some form of symlink, anyone to give more information?).

theclaw: The last file doesn't have an invalid name (where the hell did you hear that dots can't be at the end?), and the colon is likely an alternate data stream (though, colons *are* valid in NTFS as well).

This seems odd though. See if you can make Ubcd4Win, boot it, and try to scan for viruses/malware there. Either that, or try to find the objectionable files from the live environment and possible remove them.

You should be able to change your password back to your old one and access them again... unless Microsoft fixed that vulnerability (it worked in Windows 2000 anyhow).

Well, maybe next time you'll remember to keep backups. You could also see if your bank has a safe you can use, to store CDs/DVDs of your backups (suppose your house catches fire and your backups are in your house, the whole point would have been defeated).

If you mean hardlinks, then yes it supports those, and you can use fsutil to make them. You could use symlinks from Interix, though the usefulness is lessened because only Interix apps can follow them.

What's your sound card's name, where is it plugged in, and can you give any details from Windows XP's Device Manager?

I've looked through your dmesg a couple times and nothing stands out as being a sound card. Could mean that your BIOS for whatever reason isn't telling your kernel about the card; even unsupported hardware should be listed in dmesg.

NetBSD is the best thing when you're trying to make a toaster with an ARM-based board and want to port NetBSD to it.

This is old. I mean really old. Welcome to 2004.

It's not that they ignored Windows, but rather that the developers don't use Windows. There's already a couple ports back to the Microsoft platform, if you so wish to use that. If you're not having any real problems with 1.43, might as well wait for it to become official on Windows again.

I've seen some MP3s encoded at 320Kbps for whatever asnine reason that won't play at full-speed on the DS, but otherwise I'm fine with Moonshell and a MMD. Most of it is music I encoded from CDs with oggenc -q 4 and it plays without the slightest hint of skipping; small files, great quality, I don't know what more I can ask. Hell some commercial DAPs don't even support vorbis yet (*cough*Apple*cough*).

I've just been using my DS every since my iPod broke.

Lexmark is something you just want to avoid at all costs, seriously.

For decent printers, Epson and HP are excellent. Hell, HP released their official drivers' source code under the GPL, so the support is awesome no matter what OS you're using.

Good thing ol' Lex Luthor knows where his stolen missles are going.

Spoiler:
If you actually know the movie, or have the DVD (where I'm getting these screenshots), the real destination was Hackinsaw, New Jersey.

iirc, there was a topic about this on the board, incarnation two I believe.

MM: You'd need to have a board based on x86--not easy since the design was never meant to withstand heat. Also, porting Windows Any.Version would be impossilbe without source code.

Can you tell a little more about it?

And hmm, with PS1 games running full speed, that sounds interesting. Maybe with a price drop, I'd actually consider getting a PSP.
