Of all of them, I've seen Super Mario Bros and Doom. Neither of them were great, but eh :/

Because Flash sucks. I gave up a long time ago trying to find an explanation of why people like it.

Mostly option two. I'm fairly organized, though I somewhat have a redundant ~. Instead of having stuff just plain in ~, I put most 'permanent' things in ~/Stuff -- more temporary things or non-global binaries go someplace else; maybe ~/source for compiling and ~/bin for non-global binaries.

The fifth option doesn't seem like a state of organization per se, I don't know what half my crap is anymore, but it's still there in neat little directories. Sometimes I do some cleaning, but rarely do I delete things that I don't remember.

Tile world is an open-source engine that works with Chip's Challenge level data files, including the original (else, what's the point?). In other words, play Chip's Challenge on any operating system that you can port SDL to (or has already been ported to).

What do you want to do with the Supercard? It's basically a device you plug into SLOT-2, uses CompactFlash or SD cards, and can run in either GBA or NDS mode.

neo: Did you realize the site you linked to is both a scam site, and has links to GBA/DS ROMs?

Is it the graphics for nostalgic reasons? Tile World doesn't have those Microsoft graphics for the same reason it doesn't come with the original datafile -- copyright restrictions. Though you could easily extract the resources and replace the tworld tile.bmp with one made out of MS chips.exe graphics.

It's not only what it's for, but sure you could do that. You'll need a passthrough device to boot it into Nintendo DS mode; the Supercard manufacturer supplies SuperKey, so get that. Supercard 4 Dummies is a decent abridged version of the story.

Oh, and you'll need the game ROM-images of course, but don't expect to find them here, go elsewhere (or backup your own cartridges, but I doubt that's why you're getting a Supercard).

Couple of PHWiki articles that you might find relevant: Supercard and DS Piracy

People like Flash because it's the best web multimedia system out there. It's got problems, but it works on numerous browsers and OS's, has an impressively small movie size, and isn't very hard to use.

Web and multimedia don't go together. If "numerous" means IE and Netscape-compatible, and only Linux, Mac, and Windows, sure (which, the Linux and Mac versions are old and have compatibiilty problems, even compared to the same Windows version). "Impressively small movie size", lmao. Also SVG is easier to make than Flash.

Alternatives such as Shockwave and Java applets are bigger and clunkier, and less compatible and web scripting languages like javascript are a joke.

Shockwave is just as bad as Flash. imo, Java is easier and has far greater cross-platform support. How is javascript a joke? Almost all the time, it does what people use Flash for.... in about 5MB smaller and ten minutes faster.

Flash? Flash is slow. Flash won't let you use MIDIs. Those are all anyone has against it, and MIDIs suck anyway.

MIDI is excellent, you must have a crap sound card.

I'd be pretty great if there were maybe a polygonal and/or sprite based Flash replacement, but good luck finding people actually willing help you with that.

Go with SVG (vector) or AVI (bitmap) or something (?).

I know someone like this.... you send him a Vorbis file, and he gets confused as hell. Every single time. Same with AVI and stuff. Oh and he has no concept of reading wtf he's installing (there's one problem most average-joes have with Windows: They don't pay attention to what they're installing with a program)

I prefer the CLI, because it makes more sense to me. So mpg321, flac123, ogg123, waveplay, mplayer, whatever else is appropriate (if in doubt, mplayer plays almost everything video and audio).
