A lot of the direct-to-consumer OEMs don't even know about stuff like that.... you really have to some research to find out what chips they use and that sort of thing. Sometimes you'll find a range of products that are completely supported, while another product range from the same company that has zero support whatsoever.

Saw an article on digg about how windows will slow the performance of your drives after 6 errors or so are read. You have to reset the values in the registry to fix it.

Ahahaha, I guess there's another reason to not use Windows, ever.

I fixed your statement.

Have you checked the file permissions from Windows Explorer and stuff like that? I'm pretty sure that "Everyone" needs to have at least read permissions.

Eh, maybe you'll have more fun than me. I've been to Vegas a few times, it's hot... and it's nothing you can't get from Washington State anyway, actually probably less (where are the trees? )

Oh yeah, I don't think that Las Vegas even knows that real seafood exists, well at least most of it. Either you get immitation crap that tastes aweful and costs more than Seattle resturants; or you get one slice of real cod for $100 and it still doesn't match the quality of Seattle resturants (which charge about $6 for five slices; tastes better and you get more).

Sorry already taken care of, we've had an edit war at Wikipedia over this on both the MK64 and MKDS pages for a few weeks; currently the "trivia" point is put into a comments, warning anyone that adding it back will require a real source to be cited.

The most anybody could find was that the rumor started on GameFAQs.

.... Now there's an empty comment there that has no point. Good job. (actually I've reverted the page, but I'm keeping this post here)

That's nearly impossible; the only plausible explanation is that it screws up with the save support.

Not usually, but sometimes they will rot away, especially if the cases that they are stored in contains an agent that messes up with the disc chemicals.

A rather common example is that DVDs produced before 2003 are becoming unplayed, due to a chemical in the plastic that was previously unknown to rot away the DVD. And the companies claimed that backups are unnecessary... GameCube discs are, after all, miniture DVDs, I'm not sure weather GameCube cases had the same mistake, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Assuming you actually have the game, just put the game CD-ROM in your drive and rip away.

You'll have to find out what kind of microchips are in the box, and hope you can find any assembly documents on it/them. That's probably the biggest challenge you'll have.

I don't know that particular emulator, but you'll probably love the FCE Ultra version modified for TASing (rerecord, input display, frame advance, etc). Yes, you can press buttons and then do a frame-advance to have that particular input done inside the game; if you couldn't, it would be a useless feature .

Also, check out the Super Mario Bros Tricks page which has some information about exploiting the SMB3 physics (and SMB1/2j).

What if the handheld was designed for homebrew, ala GP2X?

Bochs is a (true) PC emulator... now unless you're running it on a mainframe, it will be much slower than a real PC. Snes9X is portable to non-x86 platforms, so there's no need to even be running it.
