Posted on 04-09-06 01:00 AM, in Collection purposes, anyone have v1.0 of SDW:TLC? Link
(Move to SMW Hacking if appropriate, but this isn't about hacking anything )

Basically I'm wondering if anyone's got the original version of Super Demo World: The Legend Continues stashed away on their hard disk. If you haven't got a patch but instead the full ROM, please expand the original SMW to 6MB and then make a patch

It's more like the music files can't really be used to pirate games so the authorities don't care.

It's even worse than the 2003 layout! MY EYES!!

Dammit even though GFBrowser is now banned by the new TOS, I should dig it up and parse through the ugly code just so I can get the clean 2000-look.

I'm glad someone likes it, because even one of the administrators said they held back changing the site until the absolute deadline set by CNET.

This is the worst design on GameFAQs as of yet, I liked the pre-2003 theme much better. Hell I thought the 2003 theme was ass-ugly, man they just made it worse.

You can probably use zlib, it's based on the compression libpng invented. Though you're going to have to invent an implementation for SNES.

Try using mkisofs: http://www.sbox.tugraz.at/home/t/tplank/ (you need cygwin1.dll if you don't have it already)

Assuming all the files are in a dedicated directory, run something like this: mkisofs -r -J -o cdrom.iso -V Label c:\path\to\dir
Breakdown if you want it:
-r -J = -r is for RockRidge extensions (pretty much every non-MS operating system), -J is for Joilet extensions (MS-DOS, WinNT, Win9x, Linux, FreeBSD). Both are recommended if your filenames don't fit into the standard ISO9660 contrants. Even if all you're going to be using is Windows, strange things can happen if you put Joilet extensions on without RockRidge, so leave -r.
-o cdrom.iso = Pretty simple, output to the file cdrom.iso.
-V Label = Disc label. Without specifying, it defaults to CDROM. Not sure if it works with the Windows port, but you might be able to put spaces "like this in quotes"
c:\path\to\dir = Need explaination? You shouldn't, otherwise pick up Microsoft Windows for Dummies.

Also another thing that should be obvious: the resulting file can be burned by any application that should be able to burn images. cdrecord, Nero, uhh... don't know anything else on Windows unless K3b has a port (best CD-writting application ever invented!)

SMW2 also has a fixed number of levels and no real map system. That's a downside for hacking, IMO

Well the best documentation will be the source code of course! Also, you might find RFC 1950 useful.

On the subject of DW:TLC, you should probably talk to Parasyte about it, he's done the most amount of work in attempting to free DW:TLC of locking. to quote from the RLM readme:
Originally posted by RLM Readme, Parasyte
What RLM will NOT do is recover Demo World: The Legend Continues. That hack is
expanded, and will not work in the public Lunar Magic build, even if it were
not protected. (You can see in the source that there is some preliminary
ExHiROM support, which I added just for this hack. However, I've hard coded RLM
to ignore ROMs which are not standard LoROM.) A side project I worked on was
converting Demo World: The Legend Continues to LoROM, so that it could happily
be loaded in Lunar Magic. What I have done so far is a really terrible mess,
and not really worth mentioning. The LoROM is able to show the little intro
screen before the title, then it goes to a black screen with the title music
playing. After about 15 or 20 seconds of this, the ROM crashes.
It will take plenty of work to finish that project, but it seems [at least
mostly] doable.

1. Yeah, DWTLC is probably expanded so that Lunar Magic can't open it even if the locking mechanism is reversed (aka RLM).
2. Yes there was a non-working pipe hack on April Fools'
