I'm sorry to ask this possibly stupid question, but I'm tired of going through so-called generic editors that just don't do it. They support all those oddball systems but not Game Boy Color... weird
Specifically, I'm looking to hack the Zelda Oracles... and some graphics changes should be done along with it |

Sure about that? Original GB has four 'colors', SGB has an eight-coIor palette I think. GBC went up to 56 colors in the palette; something makes me doubt that it'd be the same as the original GB.

You're free to create your own 27-hour clock, but weather other people would use it is a different story of course

People still use Adobe's PDF software? Man that stuff is so large, slow, unstable; I just use KPDF Let's see. Nothing comes to mind in particular, but BMF reminded me that I hate any Web site that thinks Flash is cool and should be used. |

StyleXP is also pretty expensive considering that all it does is patch uxtheme.dll in memory (pro: service packs don't wipe out the hack; cons: quite a bit of resources needed compared to patching it on-disk).

What ROM is this meant for? It doesn't work with Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (M3) (V1.0) [!].smc

USB ports are unique... but Windows' behavior does seem quite idiodic. Never had a problem with Linux... then again, it's an operating system that loads an unloads drivers automatically when needed, and only within a couple seconds (*cough* burn on Windows taking 10 minutes to recognise a freaking iPod *cough*).
Also I thought of a Windows annoyance: Want to install software? Go find it yourself, get it, run the setup application, Click Next, I Agree, Next, Next, Reconfigure some stupid defaults, Next, Next, I'm Sure, Next, Next, Finish, Reboot, Possibly another (few) step(s) and another (few) reboot(s) And that's why I don't use Windows. (well among other reasons, including lack of stability and lack of security) (edited by FreeDOS + on 03-23-06 05:05 PM) |

Actually I figured it out with an idea. Just like Lunar Magic hacks, this one doesn't use the real ROM. It needs 512 bytes at the beginning

Originally posted by Cellar Dweller + It's a hack in of itself; Linux wasn't made to run binaries from different architectures (in your case x86 on x86_64, I'm assuming unless you mean PPC32 on PPC64 or other archs). Generally the issue comes up with people expecting that IA32 (normal x86, to prevent confusion) proprietary binaries (eg, Macromedia Flash) would run on x86_64 since MS Windows provides such capability. In the Free Software world, it's either just recompile it on the other arch or fix the source if necessary; when you mix proprietary applications into the mix, it gets bad. |

Special thanks to Ailure who discovered this exploit... showed it to me via netplay
Took me a while to do it, but it was pretty fun doing it myself, here's a screenshot without Mario in the scene: Attached to this post is a Zip file containing a ZSNES v1.42 movie of the process... it's hard to explain what goes on, basically you just keep regrabbing Mario from the toadies while you're a helicopter, after a while Mario is stuck. Just wait until you run out of the helicopter transformation, you don't get Mario back and you can eat him even! Required ROM: Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (M3) (V1.1).smc |

Do you have the correct ROM? Check either by using GoodSNES or seeing of the CRC32 of the ROM is as posted above (ZSNES by default shows it when loading the ROM)

Originally posted by Skreename Was that sarcasm? If not, let me explain... Pants have metal on them. Now the amount of metal in a typical pair of jeans probably won't do much alone in the microwave than create a neat sparky show, but when you combine flammable cotton, it's not a good idea at all. |

Or my suggestion is to stop using the My First PC Operating System (aka Windows). Switch over to something like Fedora Core or even Ubuntu (the installer is a bit weird on Ubuntu). Also don't jump onto the more advanced things like Gentoo or Slackware until you're ready (you'll know when you are, basically when you get sick of working around Fedora Core or Ubuntu instead of working with it)

Plus Link's Awakening was made after Super Mario Bros. 2. Hell, there's even SMB3 references in LoZ:LA (Mario in a racoon suit, hehe)
Edit: SMB2 was also a dream. So did Mario go tell his buddy Link out-of-game about Wart? (edited by FreeDOS + on 03-27-06 01:40 AM) |

Are you talking about something Super Mario Land 2-style? |
