Hi everybody!

While looking around on the web for ROMhacking tools I stumbled on this website and it's community which looks very friendly and knowledgeable. I stopped going on web boards about 3-4 years ago because people used to be jerks (doesn't happen on all forums, I know) but this one seemed too nice so I decided to give it another try!

As for who I am: I'm 19, Canadian, hoping( and working slowly) on becoming an animator and/or comic writer/artist. Sums it up.

With my new computer I intend to finally start ROMhacking after all these years spent just testing patches and watching screenshots, and I think this is just the place to go for that!

Looking forward to talking to a lot of you and eventually becoming a productive member of the community!

Posted on 04-06-06 02:29 PM, in What are you listening to? (EXPLAIN in paragraph form as well NOW) Link
These times:

Song: Discreet Music
Artist: Brian Eno
Album: Discreet Music

A half hour long electronic ambient tune, I listen to it frequently when writing college papers or reading, excellent mood and confers a slight feeling of nostalgia upon listening (in my case anyway) Excellent and recommended.

and

Song: The Choke
Artist: Skinny Puppy
Album: Bites

Agressive EBM track with excellent synth lines, creepy samples and monster vocals. Semi-danceable, but I prefer this song when I get home after a crappy day, gets a part of the anger away from me.

I'd also say "You Suffer" by Napalm Death but at 1.3 seconds I don't consider it "listening" as much as "hearing"

I'm a huge fan of the first two Patlabor movies, but i heard negative feedback about the third movie from some friends. However, none of them seems to have seen or liked the first two. As a fan, would it be a wise move to add the third one to my collection?

Comments and responses would be very appreciated!

The three games that I really wanna hack are Earthbound, YI and FF3. Since i'm a beginner I'm going to learn the basics and probably begin with some small text hacks and then difficulty changing hacks ; maybe afetr I'll try to edit graphics and code. I am also looking forward to translate some games if I got the time to.

Both designs are neat i must say. However, don't you think your angelic vocal trance would be more at home on the Trance Light cd rather than the Sleet one? Unless you have song selections for your Light design already planned of course. In any way, continue the nice designing jobs.

Neat, we get to see all five now! I prefer the sleet one, altough both the Machina and Light label are well crafted. Good job. You created all those graphics from scratch?

Nice to see the third installment being released. I think the Mother series' graphics style are more suited for a 2d game than for a 3d one(as would have been the case with the cancelled N64 edition) But, is it me or the game looks a bit more cartoonish/childish in mood than the previous two games? Not that this is a bad thing.

Do NOT let your motivation go down. Having a dream and a life objective is probably one of the greatest thing seriously, giving a good direction where to go on in your life. I, for my part, have almost no friggin' idea what I want to do in as less as 5 years from now on. So I say don't even think about droping your dream now

As for your disdain of calculus and physics class, I can pretty much understand (I failed about half my math exams and got the principal to have my physics class replaced by an art one in high school) but keep in my mind that classes like these help develop your logic and problem resolution skills(very helpful in medics don't you think? )

With that in mind go motivate yourself a bit and make your dream a reality.

My body starts hating me if I'm still awake past 2am. However, on special occasions (read: parties) I can push that limit to 3-4am.

I also hate shaving my chin because I have a scar there that if I go too fast on it, well, let's just say that it hurts.

I use a Mach 3( you only have to change the blades occasionnally) and I don't get the bleedin' very often though. Your best bet is not to go too fast/hard, otherwise, prepare to clean the mess.

Well, if you're good at the MSpaint funnies you could be considered a Mspaint half-god, like Hercules or something.

Right now I'm running the Maxthon web browser on my PC and was wondering if I should stick with it or rather switch over to lololol (or another browser if needs be). My main concerns are security and ease of use. Any suggestions are welcome!

Posted on 04-10-06 12:34 AM, in METALHEADS! What cover would you want to hear at a show? Link
1.Death Certificate by Carcass (seems to fit with your style(s)

2. Angel of Death by Slayer (Standard Trash)

3. Crown of Horns by Cryptopsy (probably my favorite Death track)

4.YYZ by Rush (Love to see that covered without suckiness)

Why not also perform the easiest cover ever?: You suffer by Napalm Death.

I decided to get lololol finally. I am still testing it and the only problem I have so far is that I can't seem to be able to remove search engines from the integrated search toolbar. any way to do that?

@AlexAr: My, that looks very promising. By the screens it looks like a very good use of SMBs graphics for Metroid-style maps!

@Cecile: Why is there so much random numbers on that second screenshot?

I searched the web a bit and haven't been able to find documentation about the Uncharted Waters: New Horizons ROM for hacking. Does anyone happen to have some by any chance?

That's, hum, very blue Bio.

Wouldn't it look a bit better with black outlines rather than blue outlines? This mario sprite blends a bit too much in the water being so blue. (Just my opinion though)

I only did some two times. First time was truly horrible as I ended up feeling alone in nothingness(or a feeling related to that). The second was much better, made me feel very well. However, I'm not really interested in smoking again ; I'd feel like I'm gambling with my own head seeing it could get me up as much as it could get me down.

In that case there shouldn't be any problems, assuming you made the original rom yourself. Otherwise I'm pretty sure it would be copyright infringement.

It is probably very fun to play, but after a quick Google search I found that this game is in fact licensed by Namco, so hosting the ROM is illegal.
