Hiya everyone! I'm new here, incase that's not horribly obvious. My name is Sam. A bit about me...I love listening to music, drawing, writing and reading [Usually something along the lines of Anne Rice novels]. A friend pointed me in the direction of this site, and I finally got around to joining. Looks pretty nifty, can't wait to figure it out.

Artist: Avenged Sevenfold
Album: City of Evil
Song: Trashed and Scattered

I just started listening to Avenged Sevenfold about 2 weeks ago. So far, all I've heard is City of Evil, though I've been told it is very different from their eariler stuff. Usually I don't like metally-ish stuff, but AS has some cool guitar parts thrown in that I really like, as well as the lyrics. It's uncanny how well the lyrics fit some of my characters [and my personality at times]- probably the biggest reason I listen to them.

A long, black trenchcoat flared in the wind as he walked down the street. Emerald eyes searched people's faces for signs of lonlieness, longing, vulnerability... Oh how he despised humans...So frail and pathetic, though sadly, residing in one of their pathetic bodies was the only way he could keep from being found out for what he really was. Oh well, at least the body he had found wasn't too bad. Afterall, it could've been a lot worse. What if he was stuck being some 500lb. stinky, fat man? Always sweating and puffing for air- no. Shaking his head, he forced the grotesque picture from his mind. Luckily, the body he had found was in much better condition than that.

As he walked, he kept his head low, as he always did, causing long strands of jet black hair to fall in front of his stunning green eyes. The rest of his hair spiked up in the back, adding to his already dark appearance. His skin was a bit on the pale side, but what more could one expect from a demon? Random piercings of silver adorned his ears, as well as the spiked bracelets that decorated his wrists. A bit on the flashy side, some might say, but he seemed to fit in with the 'dark' cliche perfectly fine.

He had just returned from the supermarket and had purchased a few groceries. Another downside to inhabiting a human body- it needed to be constantly supported by food, lest it whither from existence. As he passed an open man-hole, his keen sense of hearing detected a shrill, annoying voice coming from the sewers below. He stopped and peered down into the forboding darkness. Though his eyesight was unmatched, he could make out nothing in the dank, deep sewers. Shrugging his shoulders, he was ready to continue on his way when he unexpectedly felt the cement disappear from beneath his feet, not even giving him time to react.

Pushing massive chunks of concrete and assorted rubble from his body, two forms were now visable before him. His paper bag that had been full of foodstuffs, now lay scattered amongst the debris. Milk oozed from the crushed plastic carton and all of the fruits he had bought were now sqished beyond recognition. It was obvious he had fallen through the street and into the abandoned sewers below. An eerie green light shone from one of the many tunnels as he made a mental note to explore this place better when he got the chance. Raising his hand to the back of his head, he cursed under his breath as he felt the warm trickle of blood sliding through his long fingers. Rising to his feet, he made an attempt to brush the fine, white dust from his dark attire without much luck at all. "I'm fine...but what the hell is that thing...?" His piercing gaze took on a startling amber hue rather than the calm tone of green they had been moments before as they narrowed in anger towards the revolting, floating creature before him.

He continued casting a nasty glare in Atrats's direction, his gaze looked as though it could melt the strongest of statues, reducing them to nothing but a pile of dust. The little sprite's insincere voice tainted his ears like poison, and quite frankly, he would have liked nothing more than to slap the stupid look right off his vile, little face. "No, I will not starve, nor will I die. Even if I did, I doubt there would be sorrow or weeping of any sort." Jared had the tendency of getting people to dislike him, rather than approve of him. Whether it was because of his awkward appearance, or that some people could sense the dark powers surrounding his being, he was not sure and it really didn't matter to him anyway. Approval from others was not something he sought after.

Turning his attention to Jack, his eyes had once again returned to their cool state of green. "Good to meet you, Jack," the tone in which he spoke was smooth and flawless. When not in one of his foul moods, he had a rather nonchalent air about him. "You can call me Jared." It was not often that he revealed his name to others. Come to think of it, he couldn't remember the last time he had spoken it outloud. Casting another disdainful glance at Atrats, he let out a hearty chuckle. "Aye, perhaps that is because I am no mortal, though if being mortal meant not being able to see that obnoxious little cretin, I believe I would gladly accept."

Like TwinkleStar said, I would reccommend learning how to read tabs [then again, I don't know how to read sheet music]. Learn a few basic chords [like the Majors], chord charts shouldn't be too hard to find online, otherwise, they have posters with all chords at stores like Fred Meyers/Target. A good song to learn with actual chords rather than single strings is Green Day- Good Riddance. Just 4 simple chords. Other than that, my advice to you is practice, practice, PRACTICE!

I should really follow my own advice. I haven't practiced guitar in ages...

As Jack cut his sentence short, Jared shifted his glance to the blue apparition behind him, along with what appeared to be a glowing, green orb of sorts. Never having seen anything like it in his long life, he contemplated inquiring as to what the sphere was, but was promptly interrupted by that dratted little dope, Atrats.

Jack's expression changed drastically as Atrats reminded him of past incidents that Jared knew nothing about. He felt rather awkward standing there, and even more so as he noticed the green orb thingy fluctuate in the background. Before any words could be uttered regarding what was happening, all Jared heard was Atrats's sickly voice bidding him adieu as he felt an odd sensation from beneath his body. Something was trying to launch him from the sewer, and Jared could tell it was one of the foolish sprite's litle tricks again. Well he wouldn't let him get the best of him this time...

With a sickening 'riiip', two magnificent bat-like wings sprouted from Jared's back, splicing through the human flesh of his back with the disgusting sound of popping bones echoing loudly throughout the various chambers of the sewers. Spreading his onyx wings, the tips dripped with blood, though the crimson drops were propelled ito the air along with Jared's body. With his wings spread, he was able to counter the phenominal force so he only rose but a few feet off the ground. When he felt the reassurance of his black boots on the firm ground, he turned his attention to Atrats and his eyes once again shot to that deadly warning yellow.

"Pathetic. I would advise you to stop messing around like that, you imbecile..." Looking over his shoulder at where his wings had emerged from flesh, he let out an exasperated sigh. Old wounds from where his wings had grown before had been re-opened and blood was now flowing down his back. He didn't like bringing his wings out unless he had to, it ruined his favorite shirts and left unneccessary scarring. Ignoring Atrats, he walked casually over to Jack as though none of the incident had taken place. "Soul scopey, eh? Whassat?"

As he walked through the downtown streets, he couldn't help but feel rather bored. He had grown tired of manipulating people's minds from afar. What he really pined for right now was some physical manipulation of the flesh. It seemed like ages since he had had a good fight, and that's just what he hoped to run into. Though, he had to admit, fighting a mere human wouldn't prove to be a very trying challenge...What he needed was something supernatural to pit himself against.

The cold night wind blew the tail of his long coat this way and that, though he seemed unaffected by the harsh weather. His choice of attire was dark, as always, and helped him blend in with the night. If he wanted to, he could make himself invisible to humans simply by focusing the negative energy of his being in one place, thus, ridding himself of his human host. However, he preferred to travel amongst the humans, it made scaring them that much more fun.

Turning right, he headed down a dark alley. No doubt trouble would be brewing there, for humans always seemed to choose the most obvious places to start a fight. Looking around, it seemed like no one was there. Just as he was about to turn and leave, he saw a figure stir in the shadows. A malicious grin spread across his handsome features as he turned and waited to see if the being would show itself.

((Sorry this post isn't the best, Prankster...))

He almost felt bad for the man sitting there, grasping his jacket to him for dear life. Apparently, while Jared was unaffected by the cold, it was taking its toll on others that roamed the streets. Perhaps he shouldn't challenge this being...then agian...

Staring down at the man with his piercing emerald gaze, the malicious smile on his face grew even wider. "Oh, nothing in particular. Just wondering what you're doing here in this alley, all alone." Bright eyes glinted in the dark as he spoke in his menacing tone. Perhaps he would anger him to the point of producing a fight. Then, again, he did look rather tired..he might have to get his entertainment somewhere else.

A deep chuckle rose from his stomach and sliced through the cold night air. "Do not attempt to play mind games with me. Look at you, you are alone, uness of course, you would like to prove to me otherwise..." What a sad attempt at trickery! Being a demon, he had a sixth sense for when people were lying to him. Or at least, he thought he did. As he laughed, his ivory fangs glinted with saliva. Though he often appeared human, he could manipulate his host body at any time to have it produce things such as horns, wings, fangs, and whatever else he could think of. He doubted this being could do anything like that.

He knew this man was no human, there was something bizarre about his piercing silver gaze. Just what Jared had been hoping for... What this being failed to realize was that Jared was unlike anything that had ever approached him before. He was no drunk looking to make an ass of himself, no. He was merely a demon looking for a sparring partner. Emerald eyes began to glow unnaturally in the night, looking like miniature green lanterns floating in the darkness as he egged the man on to fight him.
