| If Guts had a bad feeling, then Sukasa had a *really* bad feeling. A few cars up the train, Sukasa had still not found a single person who seemed to know anything about what was going on. "Ah man, what the heck's going on?" Wondered Sukasa, looking around and feeling chilly. "And why is it getting so cold all of a sudden?" Not knowing anything about what was going on, Sukasa began to make his way back to his cabin. Oh getting there, Sukasa walked in and sat down in the corner, the cabin having been cleaned up in his absence. "Well, I can't find anybody who knows what's going on. All there's been for the next four cars are kids with no idea what's going on..." | |||

| I could be totally wrong, but I once thought I heard of a program that could monitor writes/reads to/from a file. Maybe that program could help let you know where LM writes the controller data to on insertion? | |||

| Up ahead one train car, and making his way back, Sukasa opened the door to the train car his cabin was in, and ran right into Guts. "Oh Jeez!" Gasped Sukasa. "Cripes... what's going on here? There's been more than a few yells from this cabin... Listen, I can't find a single person who knows what's going on up this way. Nor an adult... I've been the oldest person in each car so far." | |||

| I've played Megaman 7, it couldn't be 8bpp since there's at least two and I think there's 3 layers in play there IIRC | |||

| OOC: Sukasa... is extenuating circumstances and a little older than most first-years. Like, 16. And I do have a reason for that.
"Me? I managed five cars." I couldn't get any farther, the crowds were far too thick. Plus, a bunch of the people there were coming my way, and not going up front. |

| "Are they all right?" Was Sukasa's questioning reply. "I haven't seen anything like that in the cars I was in..." he trailed off. Not really knowing what he could do to help, and with the lights in the train still out, Sukasa flipped out his MP3 player and switched it on, before hitting buttons on it almost randomly. Soon the backlight on it flicked on. The little device threw out an extraordinarily large amount of light for such a small device, and Sukasa could easily see his way down the passageway, stopping at his cabin.
"Hey, is anyone hurt?" |

| Seeing that everyone was essentially all right, Sukasa sighed and stuffed his hand in his pants pocket to grab his DS.
It was gone. Looking around the cabin, Sukasa could not see his DS anywhere. 'Hm... Not here. Eh, I'll just find it the easy way." Reaching into a lower pants pocket, Sukasa fished out a cobbled-together remote with two buttons. Pressing the smaller of the two buttons, Sukasa tried to listen for a faint beeping that should have been audible. He couldn't hear it. Meanwhile, in Teddylot's cabin, the DS he'd stolen turned on automatically and started beeping faintly, having been modded by Sukasa for his own purposes (one of them being his ability to lose the damn thing almost daily). As the DS kept beeping, the beeping gradually grew louder and louder, in time with Sukasa hitting the same button over and over again. After a while of hitting the button and hearing the beeping very faintly (and by now the DS would be at full blast), Sukasa made his way to outside Teddylot's cabin., which happened to be in the same car. Hitting the off button, Sukasa knocked on the cabin door. |

" How the hell did they get that beeping right? It was a custom waveform... And how am I supposed to find my DS, or even get the hell out of here? OH GOD!" Opening a window and retching, Sukasa looked out. The window next to his seemed open too, and from it Sukasa could hear some talking about a toy or something breaking and getting rid of it. Leaning out of his window, Sukasa edged along the outside of the train, before slipping into the window.
"Sorry about that, someone tried to play a pran-- The hell? That's my DS! Give the damn thing back!" Yelled Sukasa, recognizing the distinctive scratches on the top cover of the powerless DS. Swinging his arm around, Sukasa snatched the DS and examined it, noting that the batteries were now out. "Oh," he said, somewhat calmer, "You can give me my battery for this back too." Not giving anyone time to do anything, Sukasa took back the batteries and clicked them in, turning on the DS and watching it power up... right before sputtering out and letting out a horrific squeal, though luckily a quiet one. As Sukasa walked out, he turned left and began to head back to his cabin. Ahead were two boys talking... in the same voices Sukasa had heard earlier. Walking up behind them, Sukasa tapped their shoulders. |

| "Hang on. First off, it's not MY fault your trap sounded exactly like the beeping my DS was giving off. It got stolen, and I was trying to find it. If you please, let me go because you're not exactly being fair here. *YOU* wouldn't like it if someone took YOUR wand and then shoved you in a stinky cabin, would you? | |||

| I have to get up every morning and walk halfway across my room to turn my alarm off.... and I usually still go back to sleep. Case in point: Multiple alarms are good if you're like me. | |||

| I did collision detection by checking to see which box has a lower X value and then checking to see if their X values overlap in any area, and then if so checking to see if their Y values do. if so, they are touching, and trigger a collision. | |||

Nice. Personally I'm a SNES hacker so I won't be using that, but I'll be watching this anyways, I hope that you manage to make this editor change the music for all the levels in future
Offtopic, but Bloodstar, I'm interested in learning how you do that. I know you can make windows DLLs with ordinal exports in VB6, but console Apps I haven't heard of yet ![]() |

| "Website" in that line refers to just Sonicgivesadviceonrape.ytmndnsfw.com/?90aa1966044990c1eff26dab9408ed376, not YTMND as a whole.
And I thought that Sonic Rush was pretty good. Beat out Sonic Adventure one and two for sure. |

| Oh wow, SH! Awesome! I'm going to try something with that.
EDIT: Couldn't remember if anyone had, but I looked into the lives routine. It's definitely going to take a .ips file to be able to change. Working on it now if anyone cares to know. So far, I do know this: It's one fucked-up way of setting lives. It's set in a loop that sets 255 bytes around that area to #$04. ![]() (edited by Sukasa on 01-13-07 08:03 PM) |

| Well, one thing I haven't been able to remember is a way to change the lives Mario starts with in SMW. Maybe this is because there is no easy way to change this, it's a change more than one byte (well, until now was).
I give to you the SMWLives patch. This patch hooks the setup routine for Mario's live and several other RAM addresses I didn't recognize, and lets you set the number of lives Mario starts with. The byte for the number of lives Mario starts with is at $2FF50 (PC) in the ROM. EDIT: I just got this from Darkdata. "2025 - 62 - gives you 99 lives - change byte to change lives. Not sure what this was for, I guess it's the amount of lives Mario starts with or something, no idea who found it." This is right, BUT, it also changes other RAM addresses for which I have no clue waht they do. 255 other addresses. (edited by Sukasa on 01-13-07 09:40 PM) |

| I'll look into this. It can't be hard, all the information you'd need is already found.
EDIT: Working away at this.. It's a little harder, but I think I've found the three routines needed, and figured out how to get them to work the way I need them to. Now just to finish up and actually create the code. EDIT2: Found everything I need, addresses, free space, and notes. I'll finish this tomorrow.
