I had a bright idea! This is it- a thread where if you have a little trick or optimization, or even soemhting that seems obvious but is really easy to miss, post it here for others to use if they need to... Here's one ot start you off.

OK... I had a small problem with the winsock control is visual basic 6, where I had the code bit

for a = 0 to 31
if TCPclientport(a).state = SckConnected then
TCPclientport.senddata data
end if
next a

The probem was that only the user on the highest connected port number got the message... I fixed the problem by changing the code to this:

for a = 0 to 31
if TCPclientport(a).state = SckConnected then
TCPclientport.senddata data
DoEvents 'allows Windows to actually send the data
end if
next a

this fixed the problem. helpful if you're using a set of controls and are trying to broadcast data to a multitude of people at once.

Advance wars DS, I presume.

AW2 didn't let you make maps that... or that colour.

That depends on how it's programmed.

What if the same code runs all the buttons, and it just jumps to the correct code bits as needed, when you hit the button. Smaller code, and just as possible that reads from a data table... that would make it easier to just move the button rather than recoding or messing with tables and pointers and crap.

So, I have two computers, and they are both Win98SE, but one of them has a different set of MIDI samples from the other and the WinXP I'm on right now. How would I go about changin gthat computer's MIDI saples to something more modern? On my other PC I got the updated samples with my Soundblaster Live!, but not other my first PC. Could anyone help me? I use winamp, and having to use the SBLive! PC *just* to play one MIDI or two and the WinAMP comptuer for everything else bugs me, just not as much as the crappy MIDI samples on that computer.

What I meant was you could patch the override to your ROM, and then control it with your sprite.

Have a look at it's readme (or find my thread on the override with an HTML version of it) and see how your sprite cancontrol the override.

I think the idea is to always be able to make a real word with each of the words, such as

Bomb
Blast
Off

Works because: Bomb blast / Blast off
