| For threads and forums, whenever there is a new post, it always flashes "NEW!" next the the thread/forum name. However, it's kind of frustrating when you're scanning for new posts that aren't yours, and wherever you've post4ed, it says, "NEW!". My suggestion is; have the board not flash "NEW!" if the last post in a thread/forum is yours. | |||

| Try having the fan replaced or checked. Every laptop I've ever worked with (3) has always run quite cool to the touch. You fan is spinning, but that's not a guarantee that it's doing it's job. | |||

| I'll go looking for any physics data. So far, I've found Graphics (Tile and golfer), data on the titles and descriptions of the tiles available for each tileset, and ambient lighting, as well as sound. | |||

| Eh.. I can't edit the animals. They use Bink Video files for all of the animations in Simgolf. If anyone knows how to edit said files though, that would be a good plus.
And Hyperhacker: No go on the physics data. all the courses use the same data, and there's no file or it, so I assume that the data is hardcoded into Simgolf's EXE. I like the mushroom kingdom theme, though. That will be my first pick. I'm going to strart small, maybe one tileset remade, lighting and all. After all, to my knowledge this is the first Simgolf mod, so it's not like I have a huge great standard to uphold or anything. EDIT: googled for simgolf mods. All I found were two mods- one to quiet the belch sound at the snack bar, and one to give the pro golfers real names. (edited by Sukasa + on 06-19-06 03:57 PM) |

Well, the block data save/load is going good (By that I mean that the program saves, in an external file, the inserted block lists properly), the main UI is done, the SNES-side code and SNES-insertion (PC-sidE) code have to be done, and then I have to write a free space-detection routine, unless someone would be kind ewnough to write one that can give variable-size free space chunks, as well as let me know when there is not an available chunk of space large enough for Blocktool Omega's data tables. | |||

I goofed. Actually, the SNES-side source code is done.  I just need to finish the PC-side code.
Anyways, I have a good idea on how to find free space: Look for (starting at the user ROM space) a string of 5 $00's, then if I find that, look from there for a string of $00's large enough to fit the blocktool code, then look for two more chunks of space to hold the two tables for block data. (total size of tables: 2.625 ROM banks, or two and five eighths.) |

| PROGRESS!
I downloaded Translhextion, and managed to change the in-game name of "Deep rough" to "Mushrooms".\, by finding the string in the EXE file. The smily-face descriptor broke, and the text disappeared, but I know how to fix the text and I'm about to go looking for the smily face. EDIT: Wierd... By fixing the mushroom's description, I fixed the smily... Strange, there was no extra byte r anything in the text file for the parkland descriptions... Also, I found the animal names  Changed "Crane" to "Goomba" (Yes, I know there was a one-character difference. Game still loaded fine.)(edited by Sukasa + on 06-22-06 08:10 PM) |
