Yeah, those drives are pretty durable. Now if I could just undo the damage that the 'repair' shop did to the data on them...

That's right screwed.

Try copying the entire layer 1 level by selecting it all, then going cntl + C.

Then press cntl + delete, click yes, and then paste the layer 1 level back into the level, put the sprites back in, and try again.

Also try using a different level- I can't make heads or tails of why SMW would do that...

Actually, in SMW bowser is stored as a 3bpp sprite, and is converted internally by the game itself.

Too funny.

I can't wait to see what's in the box... Be funny if the 'devices' end up not working.

Suckas. Security is the min at my school... I wound up letting them know about one hole in their security... They said they'd monitor it, but they never fixed it

I read your post Q, I think you summed it up quite well.

By that definition though, I still can't decide what the hell I am, whiny or some elite dude.

Probably neither- I mainly use LM, and my forays with a hex editor were mainly for small hacks... so far.

... check the ROM address thread, I think there was data on how to make all levels use msic bank 2, but you won't be able to use any of the regular music tracks if you do that.

Did you import the MAP16 files into your ROM with the MAP16 editor?

If not, you should do that- but make sure you import them to an empty page, and then save the changes with F9.

Yeah, that would be difficult.

To do that, yo'd need to know how to spawn a sprite, then spawn two instances of the "puff of smoke" sprite over mario, one for the head and one for the body.

wow, that's looking pretty good!

The parts with the expanded horizontal pipes that you can see the water / green goop in aren't all that good though... They look messy, but that could be the BG behind them...

Yes, but you need to remember to change the MAP16 page to use for the background, at the bottom of the "level" menu item at the top of LM's window.

I added Case 8 just at the top though, to allow the backspace key. You really helped me, wboy!

Actually, Blackhole89 sent me the addresses (3), one of which was supposed to be the routine to load the OW data to the SPC. I'll go get those for you guys.

Keep in mind they end with RTS, you you'll need to do some creative pushing with them- or place a small bit of custom ASM (JSL $xxxx RTL) at the end of that bank.

EDIT: Here, try these addresses. They all end in RTS, and try them starting with #1.

1. SNES $00:810E
2. SNES $00:80FD
3. SNES $00:80E8

Well, I can't get into an SMW ROM, and I need some information. Before being changed, what is the byte value of the timer byte ($103F)? I need that to finish SMWOE.

THANK YOU!

Now all I have to do is include that byte in SMWOE, and the v. 0.5 beta is done.

Then, once people test it I can make it the 0.5 final.

Or have the road be Layer 2 BG, not a layer 2 level.

Yeah, like the title says, I'm just giving you an update on progress.

So far, SMWOE version 0.5b...

  • Activates/deactives the timer and "TIME UP" screens
  • Changes Ludig jump types and health
  • Changes Iggy's throw data
  • Changes mario and luigi's jump data (needs luigijump.ips tp work... see notes)
  • Has a Mini hex editor

BUGS:

  • Hex editor cannot access bank 01 - I know how to fix

To Do:
  • Add support for more boss data
  • Add in more basic offsets
  • Develop DARKSCRIPT, the main feature of SMWOE

So, I'm done the version 0.5 beta, I just need to get one .ips to package up with it, then release it.

Notes:
  • To change Luigi's jump, you will need to use the latest version of the .ips, which includes a special tag that lets SMWOE know that it is installed. Use the .ips that comes with SMWOE for this.

Darkscript is designed to be a partial replacement for .ips's and a general script utility that will allow users to import .bin files to spaces in the ROM (like an .ips), except that if there is already data there (for example), the bin can be placed elsewqhere and any jumps to it or reads from it can be updated to match.

Also, the .bin files can be changed before being inserted, which allows you tro customize the files and also simply execute scripts to change parts of the SMW ROM.

this is basically a General-Purpose expansion pack for SMWOE.
