"The best government is that which governs the least." -Thoreau
I agree for the most part, but most of humanity is not ready for anarchy. The best government now would be able to create a highly egalitarian population with minimal interference in private affairs. |

I personally have conflicting views on abortion. As a supporter of human rights, it's hard to support abortion. Early abortion is better, but were I to get pregnant I doubt I'd even consider abortion. On the other hand, it's wrong for say South Dakota to ban abortions outright, because a mother should have some say in the abortion. I understand that in some situations raising a child is very, very difficult. Also many children put up for adoption are stuck in a bad adoption system. My best suggestion is to use some sort of contraception in the first place. | |||

Originally posted by Skydude Ha, never heard that before. Think about it though, how many incentives are there to work in a capitalist system. I'm willing to bet that the uneducated worker has little motive to work harder, knowing he/she will never get a significant raise/promotion. Why work hard when you can work just hard enough to keep your job at the same pay? And I know Skydude will bust something out like "LOL u c4n l34rn @ sk00l lol" (I know Skydude types better/isn't a total retard, but for the sake of debate...). This, however, isn't always the case. Inner city schools are beyond shit and it's harder for the impoverished children who may not have eaten, who live in neighborhoods under attack from criminals and/or cops, ect. are far less likely to do well in school when compared to the suburban kid with more economic stability at home, a safer neighbor hood, well funded school, ect. Even in my city of about 65,000 this is evident. What's worse is that the economic line of poor and rich usually is close to the white-minority line. I know for a fact that the mostly black and latino (In other words, poor) schools are better than the mostly white (middle and upper classes) schools. Although I am not poor by any means, I went to a mostly poor, black primary school. Because of poorly thought out tax laws, (only land (as in house), not apartament owners, pay property tax, which funds schools) the school was under-funded. In addition, many kids came to school hungry and the under-funded food program left many kids out. With such harsh conditions, it was damn near impossible for some kids to do well. |

Personally, I think it's wrong to make about 12 million, including about 2 million children, aggravated felons. That puts all of those people on the same level as rapist, which many are not deserving of. If America wants to stop illegal immigration they should make citizenship easier to obtain and build up the Latin American economies that were and still are being decimated by our economic policies. Between U.S. supported dictators and U.S. economic "free trade" policies that operate sweat shops and tricking governments into borrowing money that will be near impossible to pay back Central and Latin America have been ravaged. A result of this is people immigrating into the U.S. to find money, escape persecution, ect. While it is not completely the U.S.'s fault, we have indirectly caused this in many ways.
Secondly, the Guest Worker Program is going to be used, mainly, to keep America white. Under the program workers can stay for a maximum of 9 years. What motivation does that give them to buy houses, get educated and integrate themselves into American society? About 100 years ago there was a similar fear that the new immigrants- Southern and Eastern Europeans and Jews- could not be part of American society and would lead to America's demise. History has proved this wrong; Jews, Southern and Eastern Europeans have both become "American." At the time the New Immigrants were treated with racial hatred and prejudice just like many immigrants are today. If immigrants come and go every 3 to 9 years what chance is there that we can overcome these prejudices? |

Well, I suppose hardware is the appropriate forum...
Anyhow, I plan on buying a MP3 player and am looking for recommendations. I have at least 36GB (downloaded and whatever was in one CD case), but probably have more somewhere. This means I need at least 40GB of storage. I'm kind of leaning for a 60GB iPod (Still hate Apple, though). Video capability would be nice, though not necessary (pr0n in class?!?!?!?!?). From those specifications, iPod 60 GB is the only one I can come up with, but if anybody has alternative players I'd be more than glad to hear them... as long as it's not Toshiba Gigabeat. |

Olde English is a cheap, drunk man's beer. That's why it's always available at the local punk shows (And yes, I bum it). Wine in a box is good if you're trying to get drunk, but not if you want real wine. |
