As the title says, I'd like to have any of the level auto-scroll commands work along with any Layer 2 scroll or smash types. Is this possible? Of course I can get one of the two kinds to function on their own like usual, but if either type is in effect when I reach a screen containing the other command type, the latter won't activate. This is a horizontal level by the way. Might turning the interact-enabled Layer 2 from translucent to regular fix it? Suggestions would be very helpful.

I couldn't make what I wanted to do work, though the level is tough enough that auto-scroll might be going too far anyway. Layer 2 movement alone suits it fine.

Edit: Correct, Layer 3 commands function properly at the same time as auto-scroll. But I believe Layer 2 and auto-scroll is not possible.

Yeah. PSP has started to gain ground because DS developers have sold themselves out more than ever and are now producing games with little or no budget. Part of the reason is that the DS hardware was made far too similar to GBA's. Countless DS games are either ports/remakes (i.e. Phoenix Wright 1/2, excellent games by the way) or sequels poorly trying to hide their obvious GBA origin (like Advance Wars, this is decent).

It saddens me. DS is capable of matching PSP on technical terms. Metroid Prime Hunters for one shows that. Or say, Hotel Dusk Room 215 that uses an original IP to great effect.

Doesn't the sky turn black if transparency is disabled in the emulators? I think so, but it has been a while since I've looked.

I used the built-in 'live filesystem' or whatever it's called Vista has for copying files to DVD. It went smoothly for a while, then gave an error and the DVD writer (Lite-On branded) disappears from the list of drive letters.

So sometime later, I'd restarted Windows and the DVD drive has it's letter as it should. But... Windows thinks this disc (a generic Teon DVD-R 8x) is blank. After tinkering in various recovery programs, I have determined the files are there, yet I do not know how to copy them back onto my hard drive! Please help. The only software I've been able to find is shareware, and won't allow actually recovering files, just viewing them.

BTW. I can confirm that retail Vista (I bought Ultimate) upgrades work on pirated XP installations and will indeed pass validation. Strangely, it doesn't seem like the sound works in Albatross18 now though.

I'm pretty sure if you stand on one of those rotating platforms in Carnival Night Zone, then activate that debug mode feature where Sonic can move around anywhere, the game will freeze.

I also once did the opposite, disprove a glitch commonly assumed to be present. Surfing on Cinnabar Island or Seafoam Island in the original Japanese cartridge of Pokemon Green causes no wild Pokemon encounters to occur.

If I go into the device manager and scan for hardware changes, the DVD writer (my read-only drive is fine) will become accessible again. No reboot needed.

Here is a screenshot showing those files I'd like to recover. The ROM goodset for Game Gear, EyeToy drivers, Phoenix Wright manga scans, little stuff mostly. Notice the OS/2 folder. This problem originally happened when I tried to copy it's ISOs over. Needless to say, the right half isn't too significant. That's just because I have two monitors connected. Anime-themed, with an automatic wallpaper cycling program to top it off. One of the coolest wallpapers I've found yet.

The files aren't too important. I'll probably archive this image as a reminder of what's there, use the DVD for something else, and redownload things should I need them later. Thanks.

Edit: link added.

Yes. However, that won't work unless I could somehow purchase or crack it. The files can't be opened on-disc or copied to another media unless the program is either registered or fully thinks so. I'm not worried this, the data is fairly insignificant.

Though having Windows forget the DVD writer, making me go into Device Manager to remind Windows of it's presence... That does matter. Other various CD/DVD tools cause that to happen also, not just the built-in ones. Again, my read-only DVD drive is unaffected.

Mine's great. Vista Ultimate, wallpaper picked at random from the specified folder. That background is gorgeous! And I've seen them all, LOAD "*" ,8,1 and notched 5-1/4" diskettes were a daily need for me to get programs started way back when.

They might be stupid questions, but I've played through the game fairly often AND of course also read countless FAQs. No information source I'm aware of explains these two little things.

1: How do I make the Black Omen appear on the map? It never does when I play.
2: How do I get Magus to join my team? All he'll do is fight me in his palace, he doesn't show up again later.

I have reached a battle with GolemTwins and then Lavos in the Ocean Palace once, yet neither of the above events occured during that runthrough.

I see now... Since the game ends when defeating Lavos, that means the Black Omen won't appear if he's beaten in the Ocean Palace part.

Dalton Plus? North Cape? Hmm, it was Dalton who made me fight the GolemTwins. I don't remember if I'd met Dalton Plus. Maybe that form of him is a sidequest. Kinda like the Epoch wings, which I know for certain I've missed on every playthrough.

I guess online guides are more vague than the official kind. Thanks, that information should be very useful.

That's far beyond my ability! I couldn't even think of beating Lavos at level ~30 or so. I just knew that due to how the game is programmed, the ending would happen upon it's defeat as always.

However, I had no idea about getting annihilated by Lavos because I haven't yet beaten those #*@(# GolemTwins I mentioned twice earlier. Anyway... The information is much appriciated.

It is nothing like that here. Both Wiis and PS3s have been entirely sold out within miles from day one.

Then again, no one stocks Resident Evil 4 version of all things! Not even for rental-only or store demonstration use. In fact, it makes me want to cry. For just a single moment to simply watch that being played...

First, the title screen Mario movements are now finished barring any unforseen issues. I explained this hack's plotline in an earlier thread, and it's also in the included readme file. To summarize... The game is currently known as Super Mario World - Mega Remix, and takes place on the original overworld, minus a few little adjustments. Mainly palette-wise there.

Several modified levels do contain bits and pieces from 'standard' SMW at this point. One reason being some are a little incomplete, others will be ones Bowser had not destroyed before Mario and Luigi's arrival.

Generally Yoshi's Island levels are new, most of Donut Plains and Vanilla Dome is, plus part of the "twin bridges" area. At least 25 overworld locations have been replaced, renovated, or in progress. 6 bonus levels off the main path can be accessed as well, those are largely unfishished, I've put temporary exits at the end of each to make them playable.

Take my estimate with a grain of salt. They tend to be longer than SMW ones were. The biggest has 750 on the timer.

I've basically put together a patch now for bug testing reasons. Hands-on input and all. Needless to say, it does have beta qualities in spots. If the attachment doesn't download, it's also mirrored on my web site. I'd make a loose guess of about 35-45% overall progress. Oh, and the Bowser castle level has slight differences than before too.

Whew! Such a long thread. My computer chair is very uncomfortable! (is it alright to ask for help with purchasing one?)

To do list:
Continue design of primary path.
Work on "optional" levels, for example Donut Secret 2 is new, yet Donut Secret House is unchanged so far.
Add or replace more message box text.
Tweak difficulty to be more suited toward a wide audience.
Improve power-up item graphics further.

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of input I'd like. I know quite well little things in many levels seem out of place somehow. It's just that I'm not certain what myself.

I've written harmless issues such as Yoshi's tongue looking strange, or the vertical background tile oddity in some levels (one starts out like this, then a pipe makes it go away) into the storyline. Making them Bowser's fault instead of an oversight by Nintendo during development. After all, he did put a section resembling the moon inside a tree! That's insane. No wonder Mario has to return and stop him again.

Maybe it won't become a total masterpiece in the end, but it's already taken ages to get this far so having input helps tremendously.

1- I'm finding the palettes on that level difficult to get right. It's several caves, with the mountain range seen in the picture as part of it. The pipe there is both an entrance and exit for a small bonus room.

2- Yeah, I think having the red darker to match the blocks now looks better.

3- OK. That's simple enough.

Yes, the hack was indeed started back in 2001. The only other hacking project I think has taken this long is a Dragon Quest VI translation. I'd heard the only major attempt at it went to like 90%, than no one else has touched the ROM in years.

Oh... And although my hack is freely editable like always, I am willing to pass development onto whoever might be interested. Of course, until or unless that happens I'll press ahead for completion of all the levels.

Looks great. I also agree though that the level with both an original SMW FG and BG is out of place next to those much more detailed SMAS ones.

Actually, I feel the opposite way as well. It took me a decade to notice, but I can't stand that SMAS uses the SMW sound effects in games which are NOT SMW. Anyone care to put their hacking skill to work and fix that?
