| How would I go about this? I'll list what I have.
No PAL capable TVs - a spare VGA monitor - 1 US unmodded first-run Gamecube (has the digital out) - an old Action Replay which has some early Freeloader version included - a copy of the PAL Pokemon Box Ruby/Sapphire. I'd imported a Japanese copy of that game several years ago. It boots up great with the Action Replay, but won't link to US carts or even the JP ROM on a Supercard CF (I can connect other games together fine using it). I went ahead and got the PAL version last week. I do the usual loading steps, then get a totally black screen and no sound. AFAIK, the picture should at least roll like setting 50hz mode on homebrew DC games containing this option do. I'd heard there's a newer standalone Freeloader. Pretty much, I've got three options. One- Buy a Japanese Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, or Emerald. If someone would kindly point me to somewhere who has one under $50... Two- FInd the new Freeloader edition. I get both no sound and no video, so this might fix the booting issue. Three- Try some kind of VGA adaptor. I'd just route the audio portion to external speakers. I'm not giving up, one way or another I will make my Pokemon store on Pokemon Box. Any advice? |

| Almost. The Japanese version of Box will start up, but won't link to either my US GBA games or ROMs on a flash cart. PAL Box just goes black, no picture or sound at all. This means I can't find out the latter version's cart compatibility to begin with. | |||

| Therefore, my guaranteed solution is to buy a legit Japanese Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, or Emerald. Thanks! Where can I get one at reasonable price?
I should've said that the PAL Box was from Germany, It's manual is the one officially translated by Nintendo into German.
I'd linked US Mario Golf Toadstool Tour to US Advance Tour from the flash memory, which worked perfect. My US Ruby and Emerald did accept connections from a Japan ROM. US Emerald even went so far as to upgrade that version of Sapphire enabling National Dex mode. Neat. While I couldn't directly link those imported ROMs to XD, their Pokemon did work if I'd traded to a US game first then XD. Okay, go back to the sentance in bold and that'll cure everything! ![]() |

I'd like to know if there's one for XP SP2, which is free and supports surround playback through a typical 5.1 sound card. I couldn't find any information with Google about 5.1 DVD on PCs. Not even commercial packages. Any idea? This computer doesn't have a codec at all right now, since well, XP bugs out over time then the re-install process is sometimes so painfully slow and BSOD filled... ![]() |

| OK, so it's a lame question. What image size value (like number of pixels X/Y) in MS Paint corresponds with a standard 8.5" x 11" sheet? I don't want to waste paper experimenting randomly. Or maybe there are programs functionally similar to MS Paint which have an automated feature? Freehand computer drawing is difficult.
Excuse my poor speech. I've been offline a while, shopping for faster internet access. It worked. I'm now on 6.0Mbps cable instead of 512K DSL. Did I mention DSL was slow-as-slime? More lagginess than dial up in many cases, despite the better 'rated' speed. |

| I can use both solutions. This monitor goes up to 2048x1536, the printer is just standard sized paper. Software often gets designed for photos, so I'm going to try making freehand images from scratch. Thanks. | |||

| You see, I'm trying to get the latest image for Knoppix. On DVD as I have a burner. But... No matter what server it comes from, it'll produce an error when the file size reaches -Size: 4.00GB (4,294,969,776 bytes), Size on disk: 4.00GB (4,294,971,392 bytes).- I've tried downloading to either of my hard drives. I run XP Pro SP2 and each drive is formatted NTFS. I'd used lololol 1.5.04 for the downloads. Name: KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.iso, from several official mirrors. Any help? I'll report back after trying to obtain a similarly sized file and see if it causes the same problem. | |||

There were cartridge games for Saturn? I've only heard of accesories, I want a RAM cart! My saved data used to always vanish. The console works, but it's not setup anymore. |

| They should downside the trade shows. Haven't game companies learned by now games with zero advertisement sell poorly? A TV commercial or magazine ad reaches far wider audiences than some goofy event only the press can see. Heck, most of the time I don't learn until months afterward that titles from people like SNK had came out. | |||

| The people who are capable of superb work get bothered so much by n00bs they often give up. However, my own Pokemon projects are on haitus due to insufficient tools and documentation. Weird as it may be... I had to scrap the Ruby version hack years ago since this computer suddenly restarting corrupted it's ROM. | |||

I don't know why, but my memory unit won't come out of the port. This model is what I have. -> Using a screwdriver to remove screws was of no use, the stick didn't come apart. I'd rather not break anything as it's manufacturer is gone. |

| This joystick has only one slot. The card is inside so tight my fingernail can't fit in such a gap! Holding the base upright with both feet and pulling directly on the VMU using both hands had no effect. I'm certain it's due to the poorly designed controller in my case, as no problems never happened on standard Sega pads.
Someone should begin an online DIY repair guide for consoles and accessories, covering more than simply modchip installation which I personally have no interest in. I'd love a "GameRepairWiki". Edit - *Close this thread* Pulling did work after I had rested a while. Dry hands put on better grip. It's curious why removing the joystick's screws didn't make it open, but I have no need for that now. (edited by theclaw on 08-11-06 01:52 AM) (edited by theclaw on 08-11-06 01:53 AM) |

Being disabled, I tend to have a rather high pitch. May as well talk on the endless spare time of mine. I'm not at all social though. |

| Anyone play this? I picked it up with the system and wow. Vibrant color, good texturing. I'm impressed how the mechanics were left quite intact. A tiny gameplay difference I've found is you don't fall off ladders after pausing. It was interesting to lack slide or charged shots like the NES original, I'm used to that from later sequels. The addition of cutscenes was welcome. They give an improved sense of plot growth.
More so, contact with PSP makes several of standard DS's (I haven't tried a Lite) questionable design choices stand out. The unit feels much easier to hold in my hands. Probably because of it's round edges instead of square-ish. It also doesn't seem as heavy, the size/weight distribution is better. On the software side, I noticed various developers have been reluctant to use the DS's equally nice horsepower. Fun or not, sudoku isn't dependant on 3D capabilities. Why does PSP have such a large quantity of used games -not counting music or movies- on the open market? Pawn shops, Blockbuster, and even my local game store find it hard to get anything for DS in stock. I suppose the only problem now is Sony's $199 package has no memory stick! I can't save, view photos, etc, without one. Whatever. I'll likely look into Maverick Hunter X soon. Mega Man side scrollers are nice. |

| I tend to stay in the background online or not. Having been through several board resets, more than my own forum despite this one's larger member count, I'm aware of challenges administrators face.
While I've attempted quite a few hacks, the most significant is for SMW which began around 2001. Level design is a priority along with keeping bug-free. Advanced graphics/ASM don't beat entertainment value. Each level gets tweaked and adjusted meticulously. It may slow the rate of progress, yet I prefer excellent results as opposed to finishing quick. So, I guess that's all. I'll continue to work on the projects. |

| It seems our board-crash mishap earlier today undid the approval of mine. I verified this by entering the Rom Hacking forum and clicked on 'preview post'. Not being certain where to report it, I chose the preview option so a test thread wouldn't appear. Thanks in advance to whoever repairs my status. | |||

| Let me clear up a little known fact. The hidden Mew might be in Japanese versions (I haven't tried it), but surfing for Missingno does not work. No Pokémon appear on either coast. Ever. Owning an actual Green cart, I'm able to verify this.
Is the strange menu option in Mario Kart? None of my other DS games support online Wi-Fi. |

Well... It has exactly ONE problem, and it's major. This unit is unable to access all brands and sizes of Memory Stick Pro Duo! Meaning no firmware changes (has 2.6 from the factory), saving game progress, photos/music/videos, etc. I've ruled out problems with the flash memory itself. Both work in Windows XP, tranferring data both directions fine.
The PSP's access light flashes whenever any card is inserted. On USB, WinXP recognizes it as a drive with no disk either way. I'm trying to figure out my best option. Official servicing seems like the most likely so far. A replacement motherboard might do if I learn how to install it. With the outrageous price of functional used systems, I'd rather get new in that case. Any ideas? I've already bought and finished the storyline of Disgaea 2 to stave off frustration, I'm now into Dragon Quest VIII's early-on waterfall cave. |

| It took me a decade to notice All-Stars and therefore it's GBA offshoots had SMW sound effects, they seem out of place being spliced into the older games. | |||

| Beats mine overall, with one minor exception. Why do LCDs often have lower max screen resolution than CRTs? I can do 2048x1536 on my 19" CRT using a custom driver, and it was $20 at the local thrift store. A lucky purchase for certain.
My previous power supply quit two days ago by the way, so I went from 300W to 350W just in case. |
