| Maybe some games just will never have cheating? I've searched everywhere, and even tried manually to create Game Shark codes for the GB Dr. Mario. Nothing useful came out of the effort. GG works fine on that title. I'll see if an emulator can help me make good SMAS-SMW cheats. That should solve the mystery. Expect a results post soon.
Also, how about pointing me toward a list of US NES games which do not have a Famicom equal? I know what's PAL or Japan only, and I'd like to collect every ROM as they don't take much drive space. |

| Name: TC
Code: 120324-621430 I connect right at my own desktop, so there's no lag or distractions. This D-Link router is a lot nicer than the one I tried to use before and couldn't get any Internet traffic through. It takes a while to log in under regional, not many opponents are nearby. Another fair playing Acmlm veteran is online, no tricks for me. My first race was with Dry Bones. |

| Hmm. I've gotten codes to work on the emulator, but not my console.
Program: ZSNES 1.42 Game: Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World (U) [!] SNES: NTSC US- common model. The harder to find one has a blocker to keep games from being pulled out, like an original Game Boy. Code device: Game Genie Hex? code: 7E04EE 14 Converter: GGConv32 VC++ version GG output: F0D3-FE8B Effect in emulation: 20 lives in Super Mario Bros 2 Actual unit: None that I can tell I came up with several conclusions, and at least one has to be right. 1- My cart is an undumped revision. Game companies are known for this! 2- The real Game Genie only accepts ROM editing codes, and not RAM. 3- This converter is inaccurate. Anyone have a copier? I'll send my cart in for dumping if somebody wants to. Or tell me where to get the tools to extract it myself, I'm skilled enough. |

| I beat the first monster, haven't played in a while. It's quite a shock when that giant foot smashes you right before victory. I've also seen SotC running on the store display HDTV, those jaggies it uncovers would totally ruin my experience. It's better with a standard set. | |||

| I was curious if there's any utility that can go through my large amount of games, to give them proper names and find out which are corrupt. I'm no good with the command line. I've got Nintendren which has a nice GUI, but it only came with data files for handheld systems. Anything like that on NES? | |||

| IIRC, .sps and .xps are an identical format used for Gameshark/Action Replay GBA saves. You can use them to say, continue your carts' progress in an emulator or the other way. Just rename the file to whichever of these two extentions a program will accept. Visual Boy Advance uses .sps in it's naming. An Action Replay with built-in USB calls them .xps. They're fully compatible from my testing. | |||

| Don't forget that .XPS files work in VBA as well, rename them. Gamefaqs has both so this hint is useful. Be sure to backup your current .SAV file, as importing a snapshot will overwrite it. Opening an emulator, you tried to use a US "FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFE" save on Euro's "FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFP" rom. File->ROM Header is how I can tell.
There's no full GBA regional compatibility (or rarity of carts for that matter) chart yet. I've discovered some things, but it's off topic for this thread. |

| NES, barely. The later "improved" physics made areas which require jumping too easy, and I didn't like certain audio aspects. I'm surprised how no Mario fan community mentions it. Every single coin touched and jump made in SMAS (plus SMA1 and SMA4 due to this) uses SMW sounds! At least their new graphics were creative, it's enough to keep my opinion near even.
SMW itself is fine. SMW sound in the rest of SMAS, horribly out of place for those games. |

| The thread title says all. I like that game of course and it runs perfectly, but won't come out.
This system is unmodded, rev. 50001, NA region. The tray moves forward a couple millimeters than goes back in. No noises are made. What can be done to open it safely? At least I'm glad the disc inside plays fine. |

| Indeed no noise. I see it move slightly, without any sound which isn't made by every tray-based drive in existance. The console has been in vertical mode a good while, if that helps. | |||

6266061B C8C9D80F - OK this is the code which warps you inside one of the player's houses in Pokemon Emerald (U) [!]. It works on both VBA and my real cart. What I must do is modify it to warp me to Sootopolis Gym. I've looked everywhere online and can't find a utility for converting GBA codes into raw addresses. Then, I should be able to try different values until the character appears in the intended map. E-Z. Advice on this is welcome.
If anything's proven here, it's that letting Rayquaza fly early messes up the story event progression... I had to use "walk thru walls" for a Hall of Fame entry. It still leaves me with 7 badges though. |

| Thank you! That program did exactly what I wanted. Final for inside 8th gym's front door, raw: 022722E4 0000000F - ARv3: D1C75BE8 69ADD230. Make sure to bring a Pokemon who knows FLY and have the correct badge to use it. The door blocking man will still be outside, no method is known to allow walking past characters. Got all badges now. Too bad that still doesn't make it so I can fly into Evergrande. Some unknown flag probably has to be set. It's not much of an issue as I've got those warp codes! No calculator or manual was used, except I did look in the VBA memory viewer for a clue on that room's location. (maybe I'll earn brownie points toward advanced types of hacking skill?)
Nice work, I didn't even mention my problem was on the cart. I've got seperate trainers going there and it's ROM. Clean roms make testing cheats a lot less hassle. Values will match between them. I'm pretty sure Ruby / Sapphire v1.0 are only availble with an intro hack, that might've made this whole effort to create myself a useable code far tougher. |

| The plug on the end of the pad's cable. I noticed how one controller wasn't being detected, and looked at it. An important pin in it's connector appears to be missing. From above:
____ {123} {456} ~~~ Number 2- the upper center isn't there. If pinout charts are correct, that is the data line. No wonder! Does anyone know a way to open these connectors? For reference, the control pad in question is this pictured type. ![]() |

| That pin is completely gone. No trace of existance whatsoever. Any issues with circuitry won't matter much until there's a connection in place, try and find some way to open it's plug end. I'm able to get inside the main unit just fine.
I don't mind MadCatz. Their large GC memory card, XB dance pad, and especially the one early XB controller serve me well. I actually have better luck with outside brands. What steams me up is Nintendo's GC analog stick, now that wears out fast. |

| Awesome! It worked for me patched onto a clean ROM, not directly on one that's been hacked. Looks great with the original BGs. I'd clean up the status bar and title logo GFX a bit, they're kinda blocky in comparsion. Those are limited in palette though. I might try extracting the graphics, to see how everything fits in with my levels. | |||

Maybe I've gotten lazy, but this keyboard I'm posting with has around 6 years of dirt since it's never been cleaned. I have the tool to remove keys, it works on everything except the space bar. I'll then be able to clean however I'd like. I don't need suggestions on that. ![]() |

| Some of the many VisualBoyAdvance builds just won't run certain roms. I've seen all regions of Advance Wars 2 (including it's half of the Japan double pack) and especially Polarium Advance not work in a few of them. | |||

| Looks pretty neat. I have one question. Does it require a ROM with or without that lame intro hack? AFAIK, Ruby/Sapphire 1.0 USA were never dumped clean. The rest of them are normal. | |||

| Panel De Pon. I'd be happy just to find a script dump. Few hacks, let alone translations are made for puzzle games. The US entries in this series were pretty much cash-ins (SNES version released alongside Super Mario 64 anyone?). Nintendo even announced their GC one for outside Japan, but nothing other than an English title logo has been shown. |
