that's not the point, what we need is a way to rotate/scale sprite, both SuperFX and SA-1 would require programming to preform such function(and if you can't program said function on the 65816, you will never be able to program it for the SA-1 or the SuperFX). the C4 already support those function, the only problem is that it use a different format for the input(while the output use the SNES's standard format). My plan is to make a cheap custom sprite that will make use of this effect, so other people could take the rotation/scale code from it, It will basically do so:

Load the sprite graphic from VRAM and store it to RAM
convert the graphic to 4 bit packed-pixel and store it to C4's RAM
activate C4's rotating/scaling function
DMA the result back to VRAM

... because it seem that I need at least two to enter SMW hacking[/stupid joke]

anyway, I'm Bio. I've been here for about 1 year. I've never released any hack yet, but I released some random ASM hack for SMW. I'm currently working on a smb3 hack called Bio world wich got his own acmlmwiki article

I'm somewhat perfectionist(wich, according to my brother, is the reason why I've never completed some of my previous project). I'm enjoying humor and ROM hacking talk and I don't really like talking about personnal stuff and 'serious' stuff

My skill are mostly concentred in the ASM departement, while my level desing and graphic skill are between bad and mediocre(or maybe my standard are just too high) wich caused me to use mostly ripped graphic and to redesign some area(you don't want to see 1-3 before I redesigned it, you just don't)

...oh yeah, and my grammar suck

edit: now that I think about it, the thread title should've been 'wat,s a brainn cel'

you could try using HDMA to disable all layer except 3, If you can't do it, I could do it for you(even if my SNES's ASM tend to be rusty lately)

I see you're forgetting Super Mario Kart. It uses Layer 4 as part of the background. However, I somehow doubt it's the same as Layer 3, and I even think not every game is capable of using it (and even if, coding it would be very hard work)

SMK use HDMA to have BG mode 0 for the scanlines used for BG and mode 7 for the track, just like HyperHacker said, Mode 0 is the only one that allow to use layer 4, but all layer's tile can only use 4 different color.

on a sidenote, earthbound also use it in the 'your sanctuary' battle BG

Go to other boards like: www.pokecommunity.com , www.zeldaclassic.com , www.gamefaqs.com , www.gamespot.com , and pm dudes there telling them about the board(note:gamefaqs and gamespot have no pm system I think) Put a link to the board in your signatures in other boards.
