This looks fun, although I'd try to fix the garbled background glitches. I'll be looking out for the demo. | |||

Although I've been lurking for a while (3+ months), this is my first post so I hope I don't come off as a jerk.
The people that I voted for are: ZTaimat - "Super ZTaimat World" is by far my favorite SMW hack ever. I just love the level designs, even though they're extremely difficult, each level has a unique and fun design to it that makes this hack stand above the rest for me. [edit: almost forgot that ztaimat is probably the best I've seen at making overworld maps. they're just nice, friendly and open] legoman - Although he may seem like a novice to some, I thorougly enjoy this guy's work. He doesn't let the constant words of dislikeness towards his hacks get to him, and I just find his hacks to be all around enjoyable. No fancy ASM stuff, just a hack. BMF54123 - Fantastic hacker, really knows what he's doing, and has set new highs for the SMW hacking community. (edited by quaker3332 on 03-04-06 07:53 PM) |

Where can I download legoman's super mario bros. 1 hack? For more information, look here -> http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=1594
The link at the bottom is broken and I'd like to try it. |

I'm loving the hack so far. Two things, though.
Maybe it's just the ROM I'm using, but there isn't a full square around the message boxes when you hit information boxes, training level, etc... Some of the parts on the left are missing a connecting border. Also, most of your jumps with sliding platforms and such can be jumped w/o using said object. Not that it's a bad thing, I just thought I might wanna point it out. For instance, in "1-3: The Cave of the Arrow Puzzle" there's a long jump that looks to require a boulder. Yoshi uses all the muscles in his legs and... ...makes it across safely! Yay Yoshi! :O So uh, yeah. Just thought I'd point that out incase you didn't realize it, because I noticed you put the boulder near the top (above the flippers in screenshot 1) because the person is supposed to use it to get across. Great hack so far though. I have to refrain myself from continuing to beat levels because I want to have a ton of new levels to play when your new demo releases. You've also inspired me to start working on my own little YI hack. I don't know how far I'll get with it, but hey, at least I'm enjoying it. You have a good hack here and you shouldn't give up on it! I look forward to seeing the full version. -A fan, quaker3332 |

Originally posted by SoNotNormal Beat 1-7, have yet to try 1-8. I'd be happy to play more levels, it's just that since I'm enjoying it so much I wanted to have a ton of new levels to play once the next demo/final release comes out. If you'd like, I can continue playing and look for more bugs and glitches similiar to what I posted above. Oh! There was another thing I completely forgot to mention! I unfortunately can't think of the exact level this happens in, but it happens in a couple if I remember correctly (in the first world at least...) I remember this happening in a cave level. You put a Checkpoint right before the end of this underground cave area. So, you go through the tunnel, screen scrolls and loads a new area. Everything's good. But... the thing is, if you DIE, you'll go back to the checkpoint that's at the end of the cave, so right when you re-enter the level you'll have to exit the cave immediately, so now the screen scrolls again, etc etc... So in my opinion the thing to do that would make more sense is to have the checkpoint right outside (in this scenario) the cave. That way if you die, you'll re-appear outside the cave, thus encouraging the player a bit more to try again. The thing is I died several times after this checkpoint, so speaking from experience, if the checkpoint was outside it would've made me go "Hey! Now I'm really close to where I died! I can beat it for sure this time!" Sorry I don't have any solid examples of this, this is the only one I remember. Oh, another level suggestion... On "Fatness Fortress" (1-4 if I recall correctly) right after the checkpoint there's that huge brick wall with green, yellow and red bricks. This is by far the level I've had the most trouble with so far on your hack. Just a suggestion as to maybe put fewer red bricks & more green bricks, as to not make the player wait for the eggs to bounce off the walls as long? Keep it up, -quaker3332 |

Wow, I enjoyed what I've played of Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom so far (the demo with the goomba and fireflower on the title screen. Doesn't look anything like this, not to say what I played wasn't good... :o)
Can't wait for this one. EDIT: Also, does the flat ghost enemy in this screenshot vvv Actually work? because I don't remember seeing an enemy like that in SMW. :\ (edited by quaker3332 on 03-26-06 11:49 AM) (edited by quaker3332 on 03-26-06 11:53 AM) |

This is a really fun hack. One of the few which I didn't bother using Save States for, or giving up when I died due to boredom. I thought the GFX looked really great, and everything just fit together very nicely overall.
Please finish it!! |

I've been playing piano for several years, and since I've always liked video game music, I've decided to try and learn how to play it on the piano.
Just click the "Play" button there, and it should work. There will be no visuals (camera is busted) but you should hear audio. I was upset that I messed up badly in the beginning of Bob-Omb Battlefield, but overall I thought I did alright. This one contains: New Super Mario Bros. - Grassy Overworld Super Mario 64 - Bob-Omb Battlefield, Haunted Merry-Go-Round, and much more... Legend of Zelda - Saria's Song This next one is very old. ^ It was recorded about 5 months ago. It was the third or fourth time of me playing these songs, so I wasn't that great yet. Included are a ton of Super Mario World 2 songs. Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy, Make Eggs, Throw Eggs, Castle, etc etc... I'm going to attempt to make an update to these two videos this week. In the meantime, please let me know what you think of these. I can play some Zelda and Chrono Trigger songs, too, among many other Mario songs. So if you like these don't hesitate to ask me to upload more vids. |

I am really excited about this. The instant death block is a good idea.
I'm curious, though. How is it possible that there can be 200+ levels? SMB only has 32. Did you remove other levels from the other games, expand it with a special program...? |

Hi.
I think Rom Hacking is really cool, and I'd like to be able to contribute to this community. Although I can't really hack very well, I'm willing to learn. I know not to spam, so I won't make stupid posts like "rofl this hak sux u should go t ohell bitch" The way I plan on contributing though is through bug reports, beta testing, comments/criticism on hacks. Here's an example post I was going to make. Originally posted by Post I can currently be found in the IRC #rohmacking chat room, and I do know quite a bit of the IRC programming language, too. Thanks for considering my approval. |

This is a hack I'm looking forward to.
I like your overworld, but like SNN said, I'd change the Castle to something else. Maybe the pipe from the overworld in SMB3? It'd be fat enough that it might be able to work. Levels look fun, and I love the atmosphere on the Rainbow Road and Wily levels. Although I don't know how to make a GIF out of a program either, however, if you use SNES9X you could go to File -> Record AVI and make a really short AVI at low quality and upload it somewhere. I bet someone else has a better idea, but like I said, I don't know how to do the .GIF recording thing I see people doing around here occasionally. Looking good though, keep it up. |

There are two spinies in 1-2 (I think) that stand perfectly still.
And 1-3 didn't let me pass the level when I hit the flag post because of the Lakitu still throwing spinies at Toad, which also makes a weird glitch because you can see Toad's silhouette in the castle. And some of the levels have flags attached to the goal posts, while others don't. Still, I was surprised when you said you made the Bowser's Jumping Challenge hack. That was a fun one. |
