I guess I'll throw in my two cents.

I'm currently not out of the guard house, and I've died several times just after getting to the big key, only to lose all my progress, at which point I left the game and didn't come back for a while. You shouldn't be taken all the way back to the beginning of the game if you die in the guard house, and in my opinion that needs to be fixed - I resorted to sticking a savestate at the entrance to the dungeon, at which point I started enjoying things more. All in all I've had a lot of fun struggling not to die with so few hearts in the first level, and cursing at those super fast soldiers.

I'm going to enjoy the ridiculous difficulty in this hack.

But that's me, someone who knows this game inside and out, and being a Zelda 3 hacker probably better than I should. For me this is fun, but I'll never be able to share this with my girlfriend, or even my little brother (who loves Zelda) with this level of difficulty at the beginning of the game. It'd be torture for them, which is kinda disappointing to me. I'm not complaining though, I knew this would be for "experts" as soon as I read Euclid's readme.

The new GFX are splendid, by the way, I loved the Harvest Moon bushes.

I can do it. I know it's possible. But are you supposed to have the bow before this, or what? I mean, it seems a little unfair when I have to hit them a combined 288 times to kill them, and they can hit me 10 (or 20 if I have a fairy) and kill me.

Well, you can stand in the middle of the room and use a spin attack when they all circle in close to you, (assuming they behave the same as in the original) to hit them all at once. But you risk getting hit more often doing it that way. I haven't actually played enough to get that far yet, so I don't know if that strategy would totally suck or what.

Which one do you guys think it should be.

I really think 3 looks the best and most natural with Mario 3 surroundings, and that 1 would be the best "Fire Toad," since it actually uses the same look as Fire Mario. The orange outline makes him look "hot," (lol that's the only way I could think to say it) while changing his (hat?) and pants to red just looks to me like a different outfit, and doesn't give me as much of an indication that he's "powered-up."
