Say what you will about Sony and their past failures/problems/debacles, you cannot deny they have released some pretty damn fine and exclusive games for their system. (well, for the PS2 at least)

Kingdom Hearts is a perfect example of this. You just don't see these types of Action/Adventure/RPG games of such extreme quality on the other consoles, or at least not nearly as many. KH1/2 are some of funnest games (not just RPG's), but games period. Yes ,it very much sucks that Australians and Europeans have to wait longer than North Americans, but In my opinion it is very much worth the wait.

As for spoilers: here's one..Kingdom Hearts 2 is even better than 1.
Did I just make your wait even more unbearable?

I don't really have any constructive information to give. But I just had to voice my appreciation. A full-on Super Mario RPG Editor would really hit the spot. I would most certainly take full advantage of your editor and try to make something fun to play.

Currently, I am working on a Mario RPG using a totally different PC program. Its nice, but I know if I could edit the actual SNES game, I could create something that really feels and plays like the great RPG that is Super Mario RPG.

My N64 has easily, hands-down brought me more tears of joy for me than any other gaming machine. By sheer numbers, my N64 dwarfs any other console Ive owned. Games owned, games completed, games completed with 100%, hours played, late-night multiplayer matches...My Gamecube/Xbox numbers don't even come close to my N64 numbers.

Super Mario 64, legendary. Super Mario Kart 64, instant classic. Goldeneye, surprise phenomenon. Perfect Dark, crams so much damn goodness into a N64 cartridge its unbelievable. Super Smash Bros, multiplayer God of a game. Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, actually rival and compete with Super Mario 64 in terms of quality gameplay. Star Fox 64, such crazy high quality graphics/sound/gameplay, still considered best 3D vehicle shooter.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majoura's Mask. Considered best games ever.

I have lots more personal preference games that I could list, but no one can deny the aforementioned list as anything but Legendary Videogame Goodness.

Its going to be absolutely wonderful, when a whole new generation of gamers discover these superb games thru the Wii's Virtual console system. If these games' multiplayer features are online-enabled..Its going to be wonderful being able to destroy these newcomers in Super Smash.

Very Happy Birthday N64!!

Lets pretend 4 weeks without any progress or updates DIDN'T happen and just move on to the matter at hand. Its OK, I brought along new screenshots

Yes, I have been working on this project. Yes, progress has has slow and unsteady. Yes, I know I said I would release a more compact, download friendly version of the demo soon and then didn't deliver. I am not going to say why, I just didn't. Anyways, what I have done is added a new area and a few new battle animations [not shown].

When I release a new demo, I highly recommend you start a new game file. Technically, you can use your old save file, but it will cause numerous problems and most likely you will not be able to access the new areas. It was necessary to add new triggers to old events, therefore, if you use your old save game file, you will not activate those triggers and be stuck.

Wow, good eye S.N.N. You haven't even seen the entire room, and already you have figured out the puzzle..lol And to think, I believed the different colored barrels may have been too subtle a hint.

As for Wario's game-referencing comments, I'm trying to capture Wario's confrontational/wacky off-beat personality while keeping him like-able to the player. Hehe, I feel like a movie director trying to "capture" feelings and personalities.

If I can make the player chuckle occasionally from not only Wario's comments, but from Mario's responses, I will feel I've done a good job (Again I feel like some sort of hippie movie director)

So is it possible to "open" an existing Goldeneye level and edit it? Lets say i want to change the type of enemies that appear in the first level from green soldier guys to brown soldier guys. How would I go about that? I cant seem to be able to open up any files from within the program. They all give me "Invalid File" I've tried opening both compressed and uncompressed files.

They just don't make quality hacks like these anymore. Utterly fantastic job man! Only reason I am not replaying your newly updated hack: Final Fantasy V for GBA.

I takes probably the BEST Final Fantasy game to keep me from playing your hack, that says a lot.

Hello. I go by AlexAR and would like to be approved to post in the Rom Hacking forum. I signed up to this board more than a year ago and like to think I have contributed my fair share.

I cannot boast to being a master rom hacker. I know no programming languages nor do I even understand half of the crazy mumbo-jumbo talk of some of the more advanced rom hackers. But I sure can make a mean SMB1 hack My SMB1 hack was even referenced in an online newsletter thingy a couple months ago. It said it was the greatest hack EVER MADE!!.. Sorry, no it just mentioned as being an example of what those crazy kid are doing with their computers and internets these days.

My other hacks. Megaman, Metroid

Truthfully though, right now I just want approval so I can praise some hackers with quality projects in the works. Thank you for your time.

Really really nice! I think every screenshot is great. I definitely welcome a challenge, I just hope you didn't make the levels frustratingly hard. Also, did you keep the same number of "level collect-ables?" Like, did you keep 5 flowers/20 red coins per level? (it was 20 in the original right?) Or did you add/remove some of those?

You know how in the original, if you got 100%, you unlocked those 2 "special stages", which were basically just treasure/bonus rooms. Did you mess with any of that? It would be crazy if you made full levels out of those special stages.

I eagerly await your completed project S.N.N.

optomon, that Castlevania hack is looking tremendous. This will truly be a 100% hack. Graphics, enemy behavior, level layout, music and sound effects? Very nice.

I have had some free time lately and made a little SMB 1 hack. Its based on a hacked SMB that Googie sent me a while back for a collaboration project we had that got scrapped. It has new object GFX and some new enemy GFX. It also has some nifty conveyor belts and a new "land theme" song.

I only have 1 level, palette corrections here and there and a title screen edit(Thanks for the program Googie!) left to do.

Hello everybody. I need to capture some game play footage off my computer screen. A quick and dirty search brought this free app to my attention. Unfortunately, this program like others I have found, place a watermark or stamp or time limit on the videos.

Anyone have any alternatives/favorites they can recommend. Thanks.

edit:
My bad. I forget how versatile this forum is. I'll go ask there.

Umm, maybe I'm missing something very very fundamental about these programs...but they don't seem to have what I want. Windows Movie Maker is for editing video. It can capture video only from an outside source (video cam) not from my computer screen.

Same thing with VirtualDub. The help file states...

What you need to use capture mode
In order to use VirtualDub's video capture mode, you need:

A video capture device.
An external video source.

Am I retarted? It would not be the first time I miss something simple.

I have stumbled upon this HyperCam
It stamps an "Unregistered Version" message on all the videos and runs really slow unfortunately.

My graphics card only has a video out option. Good for hooking up my comp to my TV, not so great for hooking up my xbox to my comp/monitor. But its all good now. Hypercam is working just fine. Here is the video I captured, edited with Windows Movie Maker, then uploaded to YouTube.

I very much agree. Just looking at these screenshots I can already tell the experience would definitely change (for the better). I say the more "whacked out" the palettes, the more memorable the experience. I believe if you can give the impression of having changed level design by ONLY changing colors, that a "win."

Don't get me wrong though, there most certainly is a balance between wackiness and stupid, I just don't think Green-Kirby has quite crossed that fine line..yet.

Keep it up Green-Kirby, go all out!

HOLY SHIT! This is absolutely INSANE! Every single aspect of your hack is freakin out of this world. Green coins, new power ups, 'multi power' power ups, new physics, 2 different playable characters different levels for each, bonus levels and non-crazy stupid hard level design...my GOD!

I have only played the first 2 worlds (both as Luigi and Mario) but I declare this the most kick ass Mario game hack ever..and its not even finished or bug-free. Makes my upcoming SMB1 hack look like freaking pre-school shite.

Utterly Superb job DahrkDaiz. I eagerly await anything you release in the future.

I don't mind either. Best not to rush a genius.

I don't think interdepth mentioned anything about gfx decompression. But if he does add that feature, then the greatness of his editor would begin to rival a certain jumping man's editor. By the way, are you planning on allowing the map layout to be edited?

Two new SMB 1 hacks in a row? What is this, 1999?

Anyways, here's the read me file..hah! I forced yall to read it..
--------------------------
Toad's Treasure Quest is my latest SMB 1 romhack. The foundation of this romhack is what makes it special and very fun to play. A couple months ago our fellow romhacker, Googie, put together a rom containing hacks from various open-source Japanese SMB hacks. He then ripped various GFX from other NES games and sent me the file for a collaboration project. That project ended up dieing unfortunately. But after a couple months, I found myself with some free time and decided to make a new SMB hack using this incredible hack as a starting point.

This hack contained new music, new GFX, conveyor belts, new lead character animations and upside down pipes/piranha plants. None of the levels were actually changed though. So I loaded up SMB Utility and went to town. I created 16 original levels and a brand new title screen making sure to utilize these cool new features. I personally only changed the gfx of goombas and bloopers. This romhack is definitely easier than my previous SMB Bowser's Jumping Challenge and the levels flow much more smoothly.

The story involves how Toad came to posses all those useful items in SMB3. In this hack, you search for those warp flutes. Yes, I know Toad doesn't actually give you those flutes in SMB3. Just pretend he finds them and intends on giving them to Mario, but then Toad trips on a Goomba and drops the flutes which then get stolen by Bowser's henchmen.

Patch to: Super Mario Bros. (JU) (PRG0) [!].nes and enjoy

Please visit Digitalspace for more info

Special Thanks to Googie
---------------------------------------------

Not only did I bring screenshots, but check out this video I made for YouTube. (I also uploaded my Megaman hack video)

The only issue I have found with my hack is the Level 3-# display. At the top of the screen where it says what level you are on, levels 3-2, 3-3, and 3-4 display garbage. I haven't really studied the problem. If I couldn't fix it with SMB Utitlity, I wasn't gonna worry bout it and neither should you.

I appreciate comments. Zip file with .ips and readme.txt

May I ask how you got a hold of a demo of my hack. Seeing as how I have never released a demo of any of my romhacks, I'm curious to know what you are talking about. If there is a "leak" in my rom-hacking system, I must know.
