WOW! That is just insane! lol My god. Why isn't that "feature" in the edit menu or have its own button on the window. Crazy! Thanks so much Dr. Mario. You have just saved my Castlevania hack. Unbelievable!

I'm thinking of making a kind of sequel to this hack. I want to make it much more open this time around though, not so linear. Much bigger map and maybe even more boss fights. I wanted ask those of you who have played my hack what features did you like/dislike.

Were the bomb puzzles too hard/easy. Were there too many of em. Any problems with room layout? The new game will be much bigger, so I want to make sure everyone likes the style of play.

Any new news interdpth? Anyways, I wanted to ask if it would be easy to hack the game into having Samus begin with all/most items already possessed. In my hack, I was thinking of doing a Metroid: Prime type of scenario in which you begin fully powered and then take a big hit and lose your powers.

It also would be cool if Power ups just appeared in air after you killed a boss, sort of like Fusion, where that spiky flying boss thing floats in air after you defeat it.

Samus in the Mushroom Kingdom was just a stand in title. And there are no pics at romhacking.net other than those I have posted here. (I've deleted any old shots)

As for that sequel I was thinking of making..I'm putting that on hold for awhile. I've decided to use the Castlevania editor, Stake, to make another crossover hack. I'll post a pic soon to show off my theme.

This is what I will be working on next. This is Metroid tilesets and characters in the Castlevania engine. Everything seems to be going smoothly. The only problem I see is that I'm gonna have to make several custom Samus gfx. For her grapple beam swing and climbing stairs. Maybe an artist from here can help me out.

Jeez Interdpth, multitask much? But seriously, you should be careful when taking screenshots like that. You're a pro, so you know what your doing. But some unscrupulous character might take advantage of some of the stuff you might inadvertantly show.

By the way, 12 notepads up?...I think that's a new record.

Thanks for the comments Imajin. As for this new hack I'm making, I actually got the idea from Interdpth's MZM editor. I jokingly mentioned to him that maybe his editor could be retrofitted to make Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow hacks since the map layout/style is somewhat similar to Metroid. Then I thought, "Hell, I put Samus in the Mushroom Kingdom, why not put her in Dracula's Castle." That kinda looked a little ridiculous to me, so I just through her back to Zebes, but using the Castlevania engine.

..then I though, " How bout Simon Belmont IN ZEBES!!....fighting Mother Brain..omg!!..." then I got a hold of myself.

lol I mean cuze..as cool as that Toad house may look..I would have to draw everything to that style or a style that would work..and that's a lot of work for this amateur.

I don't see myself "fixing" what I have already or drawing a whole new world. So ill just rip off a game. Ansem, you mentioned Superstar Saga. Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea. I can easily rip the graphics off that.. unless anybody else has any other ideas, I think ill do just that.

Its always better to be self-sufficient. First, click on that Editor Database sticky in this forum. Click on the links to download Lunar and Eggvine. Should be real easy to install. Run them. After that, press Alt + PRT SCR to "print screen." Open MSPaint, press ctrl + V to paste that screen image. Now you have a screen of the editor. If you need it online, visit ImageShack.com Press the browse button to look for your image you have saved as a .png or .jpg Then press the "Host it" button to get your image online and some links on how to display it. Any questions?

Here's what the final product should look like..

Yes, 'ahem'..well yes..As an OFFICIAL Metroid Zero Mission Editor Tester appointed by none other than Interdpth, I feel it is my responsibility to play with...I mean thoroughly test this build of the editor as soon as possible. Yes, I believe the community would be best served if I got my greedy little pa....I mean if you, Interdpth, made available this latest version to me. ..For the greater good Interdpth...the Greater Good!..._¬

Maybe some sort of RPG where there are multiple heroes...now theres an idea.

Raccoon Sam, you wanna draw me some sprites? Do you have a copy of Castlevania and Metroid? Id post a mock up I made of Samus swinging her whip/grapple beam...but I freaking deleted it by accident..arghhh Yet another reason why I never draw anything original...

Oh yeah baby! A sight to behold...

You cant edit tiles just yet. Only the Header Editor things. But you can practically see your own MZM hack already by just looking at all that goodness. By the way..I got dibs on the first MZM hack. No one can release their MZM hack until I release mine..got it? Good.

....Well I don't..BUT STILL.
Lets take a look at the numbers shall we?
Number of Metroid hacks completed..AlexAR - 1 Dragonsbrethren - ZERO So there ha! Plus with innovative, out of this world, professional quality room design like this...how can anyone doubt me as the victor in this Metroid Zero Mission Hacking Brawl.

Mildly interesting? What are you talking about..? I spent months on that room design. Notice how the pillars are so evenly placed. And how only a true Metroid Master could successively jump from pillar to pillar without falling between them. And all that empty space up top? Well I didnt want to make it too demanding for the player by placing objects there too.

Now that's what I'm talking about..not very original..but a lot easier on the eyes. I actually had to do some major tinkering to get things to look OK...still better than anything I had before this. But now that it looks so much like Superstar Saga, I want to implement some of that game's features...lol Like the whole buddy system thing to get passed obstacles in the overworld.

I was thinking Mario would always be in front..and you could just switch out your partners ala Paper Mario. Since Luigi isn't nice in my game and doesnt join Mario, Im gonna have to think of..'original'..special partner moves..o oh.

Maybe you guys can help me out. Wario joins you first..then Yoshi and Toad joins last. One special move maybe could be Wario does his tackle move on Mario and sends him flying across a large gap..or through a wall..

As always input is greatly appreciated.

Two hundred-fifty? Not bad. But what about the games man..the games. I would much rather pay 300 bucks for my Wii but only 40-50 bucks for my games. Xbox360 games are going for 60-70..yikes!

If Sony decides to sell their games at 60-70 like Microsoft, then you can bet your ass Nintendo will too. No reason to keep current gen game prices when everybody else is hiking them up.

Bottom line: I need to get a job ASAP.

That feature set looks more than complete to me. As long as everything is implemented right. If the game 'feels' smooth, then your good..in my opinion at least. I always focus on play control and the interaction between player, input device and on-screen character.

As a movie reel, would you be rolling around the levels? Would it start moving slow and accelerate? Would you carry that momentum as you jumped from platform to platform? If you could manage that sort of physics engine (its not THAT complicated) it would make for a really good game.

Of course this is a flash game were talking about so..as long as its.."Flashy" I guess people will like it. Good luck.

I would like to buy and stay loyal by buying a Wii at launch. And I probably will. But as soon as the sensor things start getting sluggish/unresponsive, and when my arms and wrists get tired and sore, and when the whole novelty just wears off..I'm getting a PS3.

As mainstream and 'simple' as Nintendo is trying to make gaming..its actually making more complicated technology with more moving parts and more parts that can get dropped and stop working. Remember, people are very very stupid. (unfortunately) There not gonna know how to get this contraption to work and will gravitate towards what they know already..a Dual-Shock and 'Grand Theft Auto 6 : Slap my Bitch up!'

Nintendo will become more niche than ever. Which is actually fine by me. You just cant make any sort of argument for Nintendo in the Console Wars. Sony will dominate even more so in this generation.

Are you sure about that. My point was that IF Sony decides to sell their games at 60-70 then most likely Nintendo would too. No difference. BUT if Nintendo sells their games at 60-70 and Sony decides to keep them at 40-50. Then the PS3 is actually cheaper.

Lets say you buy 20 games over the lifespan of your console.

PS3 20 games * $50 = 1000 + $600 for console = 1600 total cost games and console

Wii 20 games * $70 = 1400 + $250 for console = 1650 total cost games and console

Its all about the games man..who gives a shit about input devices or licensed brands. Don't buy your consoles based on price...they are ALL expensive as shit. If you really truly enjoy playing video games, buy it all.
