Generally because logic is lost to most people on the internet, as is humor and sense of fair play, and thus 90% of those 'parries' are actually ad hominem circumstancial attacks, or otherwise insults against me as a person.

Even more strangely, those attacks are usually related to 'Stop acting intelligent OMG' and 'You aren't allowed to make jokes around here because I said so.'
