I prefer the name Revolution. It declares the console's intention of changing the way we look at gaming. But Wii? That means nothing to me.

While the name won't have any direct effect on how the console preforms...
I prefer to call it the 'Revolution' instead of the 'Wii' |

Wii has no meaning, but it's grown on me. Revolution is too proclamatory. Wii is whimsical and fun.

I'll keep calling it the Revolution until after E3. Just in case.

NEVER PUSH ALT then C WHILE TYPING!!!!!!!!NEVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!
________ANYWHO... I don't know if Nintendo has anything under their sleve, or even if they have a sleve(or even a shirt) But whatever Nintendo wants to do, I'll go with it(mainly since I've been playing on all of their systems with games that only have the Nintendo logo on them and nothing else...Mario, Zelda, Yoshi, etc. since I was 4 or 3). Wii or no Wii. ME:"I just got the Wii today" OTHER:"The who to what?" ME:"The Wii, AKA:Revolution" OTHER:"Oh that...wii" ME:"Not that Wii you nincompoop!" OTHER:"Let's still call it the revolution" ME:"Whatever" Point is, it is what it is. (this is where I pushed alt then c by accident) Nintendo has named it what they want to name it. We called the Nintendo Entertainment System the "NES" We called the Gamecube the "cube" Now we are calling the Revolution the "Wii" Heck, they may just be trying to teach people that they can say anything in public, even the silliest things. If they decide to change it back fine. If they decide to keep it fine. Whenever someone says Wii, people laugh, but then it is passed on as a joke. If the Nintendo Wii gets to be as popular as "Why did the chicken cross the road?", Nintendo will be the masters. (took two seconds to copy what I wrote) Long live the Revolutionized name! Long live the Wii!!! |

I prefer revolution, as it sounds more harsh/hard.
But Wii in itself is quite a revolution for a name. |

Every customer that we've talked to about the name change hates it and laughs. Its a joke to them and they even think we're joking about it. I've told them to check out the website. Heck, I can't even say Wii, because I dislike the name so much. o.O

Even if they will name it Wii I'll call it Revolution because Wii sucks. If they make games with Wii in their name (Ex: Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Wii), I'm gonna scream. Confusion time: I got a Wii, I gotta wee.

So like, do you guys ever say "We are going somewhere, blah blah blah" because you have to have the maturity of an eight year old to associate the name Wii or the word "we" with a dick.
Pfft, children, get over it. |

This one is not from me. It's when I told my friend the new name was Wii, he said that...

I like Revolution better.
But, the name Wii itself isn't so bad. It doesn't matter a lot about the name, only the performance of the system. And I have to agree with Razman about if they start adding Wii into the names of games, that will probably get annoying. I just had to vote Revolution, not only was it cooler, but that's what I've been calling it for quite a while now. |

I personally prefer Revolution, or atleast some two syllable word... "Wii" just seems... a bit |

Originally posted by Peardian I agree with the two syllable part, they should at least call it the Nintendo Wii, like the DS. Even then it still sounds weird, but at least it's better. Of course, I'm going to keep calling it the Revolution. |

I very much prefer Revolution. Wii is just... it doesn't sound like a game system. And while that's probably what Nintendo is going for, they could think of something better. I'm going to call it the Revolution for... probably forever.

Alastor - "Wii has no meaning"
Alastor, I point at the http://revolution.nintendo.com/ page... It says, "Wii sounds like "we", which emphasises the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what langauge they speek. No confusion. No abbreviation. Just Wii. Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play." So it does mean SOMETHING. Its just a poor meaning...I like Wii though. Get past all the 6 and 8 year olds talking about Wii-wii's and their "long, hard controllers", and it is a really unique name, which is the ballgame that Nintendo has been pitching in since the Gamecube came out. I mean, come on, a system that is square and plays games being called the "Gamecube"? They have been going for unique things (Touch screen anyone?) for awhile, so the name shouldn't be a shock. |

It's not so much that I dislike the name Wii (though I do, admittedly, but it's just a name)... I just think that such a decision is going to screw them over. It doesn't sound "cool", so no one's going to want to talk about it in school (especially with the people who look for any reason to knock the shit out of someone; I've got plenty of experience with them), and as the <17 crowd seems to generally be Nintendo's target demographic... you see where I'm going with this.
