I must be one of the few people who is not even remotely interested in an English version of this.
I prefer to watch Japanese films in Japanese for one, however I honestly was not excited by Advent Children the way so many others seem to have been. It seemed like...... well... fanservice... *puts on flame retardant suit* |

Fanservice? Well yes! In some ways it's the end of an era for me, with a lot of my theories I wrote 7 years ago, well we now have answers, for pretty much everything I wrote
Debating the plot of FFVII and arguing about the possibility of a sequel helped shape my life in immesaurable ways. Without it, I arguably wouldn't be here today. |

In other news, the McPassion meal is a dollar off on Tuesdays!
Reminisence of FF7... I heard about that being in the FF7 special $300 release in Japan. Is it just a quick run together of the important scenes from the game, or is it a fuller-then-half-hour-length film with cutscenes and... music videos? A-wha? Also, the RPG mode in Ehrgeiz is like the forgotten child of Diablo, Final Fantasy, and [insert generic arcade fighter here]. It was never meant to exist. I'm perfectly content with the arcade mode and minigames. |

Judging from the dub of Kingdom Hearts 2 (which rocked, even dubbed, and supposedly has the same voice actors) and the Japanese version of AC, I'd have to say the Japanese voices are better . I mean if I had only played the translated versions of the games and stuff it'd probably be great, but.. yeah.

Well, my roommate decided to buy a copy of it on DVD.
The reminisence was just a 10 minute run-through of the story of FF7 to update you for the movie. Pretty good, really. Anyway, I don't see why people are complaining of the VA. I thought they ruled. I'm like a giddy little fucking school girl now ^^ I'll be getting the PSP version on thursday, probably. |

Just got the movie on PSP today. I'm quite surprised, really. The quality of both the graphics and sound are superb for portable standards.

Finally said "screw it" and got a copy of the English version today. Voice's are better in jap version by far in my opinion but seeing the little extra's on the dvd was cool.

I prefer the japanese dub. The english dub doesn't sound like what I believe the characters should. I mean, Sepiroth just doesn't sound right unless he's speaking japanese.
And of course the movie is fanservice. Fan service for fanboys like me XD |

I don't know, I think some of the characters' looks were significantly improved. The Turks, for example, though I'm not sure how much FMV exposure they even had. And Tifa...seems to have gotten some much-needed breast reduction surgery, so she probably doesn't have back problems anymore

Although they seemed to... how shall I say, "stick out" during the duration of the movie. =P

The problem I had with the movie was the fact that the voiceovers don't match the mouths at times. In anime, you can barely see it at times, but in a CG movie, it is highly noticable. The thing I also noticed: voices are like in KHII, which was a good thing for me, since I could tell who was who if they were in KHII.
I'll have to sit down and actually... you know, watch it all before I begin to say some bad things about it. I think I'll watch it tomorrow so... I can see how over-/under-hyped it is. |

Well, I mean, that's what you're going to get with a dub. You don't notice in anime because, well, animation gives a bit more leeway than real life or really-high-quality-cg (like this) does. The original VAs are better anyway. Subs FTW.

Yeah, at least if you delete Reno's "yo" after every one of his lines.

Reno's "yo" thing is cool. It adds to the contrast between him and Rude.

Oh, I thought it was the fact that Rude had all of four lines in the entire movie that did that. =P

Honestly, I didn't think any of the Turks were all that great in the game, at least past when you first leave Midgar. They just seemed like rather annoying characters. In Advent Children, they're great. That's one thing I like a lot more about the movie than the game. |
