I heard about this while i was wandering about. Apparently, some people went nuts, and converted FF ten COMPLETELY to an NES rom using the FF2 NES rom as a base. How, I don't know, but I am dying to find it and try the rom out.
Anyone know where it is, cause all the article links were dead ends. |

It's bullshit. It's not a NES game at all.
However I think it did turn into a PC game with crappy wanna-be-but-not-quite NES graphics. I'm unsure of the link myself, but from what I remember seeing, it looked very lame. |

I think you're referring to this.
Basically, people on a Japanese forum were imagining what it would be like to have FFX on the NES, and some of them posted fake screenshots of what such a game might look like. There may even have been a simple PC demo; I don't remember. Anyway, if you couldn't read the Japanese text or tell that the NES screenshots were fake (e.g., some of the graphics tiles used more colors than the NES could support), you could have been misled into thinking that there really was a working hack out there. A few of us provided evidence that it was all a hoax, but our posts unfortunately didn't get archived. (edited by calcwatch on 03-28-06 01:48 PM) |

It's bullshit.
Not entirely. One of the files I downloaded from the project site a long long time ago has a minimalist NES rom with just overworld worldmap walking + airship a la FF1. I remember pressing select also cycled between all overworld mapman sprites. It also came with full ASM source code. |

Originally posted by dormento I suppose your'e right. Although the project went to a PC platform. Making the idea of it being an NES game bullshit (as well as the point of it being based on the FF2 ROM) Plus all the screenshots that were available at the time were fabricated (bullshit) Though I guess yeah -- its development does have some roots in NES, so it's not complete bullshit. |

Also, to put in another comment...as far as i know, the site's down.
The thing that amazed me the most (and was really the best thing they had) was the .nsf remakes of practically the whole FFX soundtrack...that was nice . |

I got just "The Skies Above", and the normal battle theme (forgot what it's called)... |
