Salutations!

First: I've read the help file. I've read the rules. I've read the Newbie FAQs. I've tried figuring this out on my own for some time. Either I've missed something, or I'm rather oblivious to what I need to be doing. It's likely the latter.

In any case, I'm using peter_ac's graphics hack as a base for a hack in my spare time. I'm a complete newb, but I'm starting to get the hang of things. I can't seem to figure out, however, how to change the background. Is it easily possible to, say, copy the background from level 105 to 106? Told you it was a newb question! I suspect there's an easy answer, involving the Map16 editor, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Using the copy background function causes it to be garbled, presumably because it's not using the palette from 105, and I can't figure out how to get it to do so. Learning how to use the bg from 105 on 106 will probably be enough for me to figure out the rest on my own.

Any help would be appreciated, and my apologies if there's an obvious answer that I'm missing.

Yep. Under the level menu, there is something called "Copy Background Image...". That's what you're looking for. Be sure to set the graphics properly in the Super GFX Bypass, or else you're not going to get much out of it.

Go to file
Palettes
Export level palettes to file
Go to 106
Import level palettes from file
Then save the level.

You can delete the palette file afterwards if you need to.

Welcome to the board, Midknight! You should check out the IM/PM thread, it might help later down the road.
