I know that most of you know this, but some people just don't get it.

DON'T ASK FOR ROMS.
DON'T ASK FOR ROMS.
DON'T ASK FOR ROMS.
DON'T ASK FOR ROMS.
DON'T ASK FOR ROMS.

If you're going to ask for ROMs, get out of here. Right now. Yes, I'm serious.

No, you're NOT an exception.

To other staff: Leave this thread sticked. plzkthx

No one ever reads the forum announcements. I think its fine here. Even though appearently some people can't read.

This is covered in the rules (FAQ) already. No need to make yet another sticky topic here just because one random idiot decided not to read the rules and make a ROM Request. Just ban people who do that.

Ditto. If they didn't get it by now blinking text isn't going to help. All it does is look kinda stupid. And that it does. That it does well.

I think the thread title could be renamed to something similar like "FREE ROMZ 4 ALL!!!!!", this just will pay attention to those who falsely think this is a pure ROM site/message board. Probably this even will be read then.

Other than that, it's just common for some people _not_ reading the rules.
If it was like that -and in the forum itself - then there won't be moderators needed as well.

How do I find ASM?

Kidding. This sticky wins millions of times, though. There ARE elements that are as bad as asking for roms that go around too. Like linking to the rom of a hack. Or maybe not crediting the right people and stealing stuff.

How about whenever someone registers, we raplace that image with:

ASK FOR ROMS=DEATH!!!

And that would stay there until about ten posts later.
But under it you should write

(original picture comes back after you make ten posts)

that way we won't get endless threads like "WhY PiCtUrE nOt ShOwInG uP?"
S.N.N.
wtf

Whoever asks me and tried to break my own site policy I will kill them. I hope no random newcomer comes asking me for ROMS. Anyway some n00b's don't even go to the newbie forum and read this rule. It's in rule#5.

The original picture shows before you register.

Gah... How does blinking text repeating something already in the FAQ win once, let alone millions of times? There ought to be a single violent reminder to read the FAQ that shows up when you register and that's it -- none of these stupid reminder threads and no stupid duplicate read the faq threads.

There could be something interesting here. Instead there's a sticky of no help but to idiots who have a slim chance of reading it if they didn't bother to read the faq. That makes me angry. And when I'm angry I complain. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

I agree on this method. I may not be part of the staff, but some of my opinions can probably be useful.

We need to set an example on certain users who refuse to obey the rules. I think giving them a link to the list of banned users or angry PM's should give them a scare.

If that doesn't work, maybe an IP ban should be the most effective way.

I know this is harsh, but I have been browsing this forum many times and at least there must be some 2 year experience with SMW hacking before entering this forum.

That's not harsh, it's outright stupid. How the hell do you tell if someone's been hacking SMW for 2 years if you can't judge by how long they've been hanging around the forum? The honor system?

And I happen to be positive that there are morons who have been hanging around for years and decent people who just pop up. A two-year limit solves nothing yet causes a great deal of suckage.

More bans sound like a decent way to solve the problem. Just take a look at the shit threads around here: None of the creators are currently banned. WTF, guys. WTF indeed.

Make a user rating, for every good post, you can give points, and for bad posts, negative points. And users with more points can give more points.

Add other restrictions like only a certain amount of points in a 24h period, and no giving points to the same user in a certain period.

Why not ask the joiners for their IQ and have a link to some IQ test? Any IQ under 120 shouldn't be here. (Mine's 128 =P)

You do realize that if we made it that way, over half our board members would be banned - even some of those who are respectable and intelligent? Not to mention that it would be an unreliable method of determining somebody's skill with hacking.

How about everyone calms down and just quietly deletes bad threads and PMs the user the link to the FAQ?

Dude who gives if they ask for roms. If they asked I would help whats the bug deal. Like it matters anyway. Everybody asks and downloads roms. Why do you have to make a big deal out of it. People like that need to go away and die or something. Do you always make a big deal out of things.
