Once again I'm hacking Mario Adventure 2: Luigi vs Mario and I'd love to here some hack ideas that you guys could come up with so that I could really make this hack stand apart from the rest. | |||

Well here's an idea, since it is called Luigi v.s. Mario. Why don't you change Bowser into Mario, and change the koopalings to other famous Nintendo characters? (ex:characters from SSB or SSBM.) and have Luigi save Daisy instead of Peach. Well, I hope that helps out. | |||

How about this idea? (Pretty much stolen from Sonic Adventure 2)
Add a saving system which allows you to save if a level is beaten or not, items, and stuff. When you start up the game, you choose if you want to continue your Mario game or Luigi game (or maybe erase one or both of them). Once you beat both Mario's and Luigi's game, their storylines merges together into a final storyline. (On the title screen, you choose between, like... Mario, Luigi and Bros., where Bros. is this final storyline.) The final storyline would be a (very long) level where you're able to switch between Mario and Luigi at will (to use different abilities at different places) to reach Bowser's final FINAL form or something. (Suggestion: If you make this, make Mario's and Luigi's storylines pretty much comple quests, but with a cliffhanger at the end which hints about the storyline development in the final storyline, so one gets motivated to continue the other brother's quest) (edited by Smallhacker-felinian on 03-07-06 10:08 AM) |

Something I have been tinkering with but haven’t committed enough time to yet would be these:
1.Replacing 2 player option with Mario or Luigi option – however only differentiating them on face, color and jump (ala advance series). 2.Generally leaving the power-ups as is, except replacing the leaf with the cape as shown here: http://classicgames.jordanbieber.com (if additional new things could be added then cool but I wouldn’t go to far reworking what’s there, add Yoshi maybe?) 3.Update enemies/background graphics where possible to a Yoshi’s Island look 4.Make all of the levels “throwbacks” to other Mario games – copy sets of levels from other games so that each world is a “cliff notes” of another Mario game. For instance: World 1 would be levels 1-1 through 2-4 of SMB 1 World 2 would be select levels from SMB2J World 3 would be select levels from SMB2 And so on hitting SMW, YI, Perhaps Super Mario Land 1 & 2, and maybe even 2D representations of SM64 or SMSunshine The World covering SMB3 could be made of the SMB3 lost levels that there are several hacks accessing. The Hammer Bros stages could be representations of the class Mario bros level, or levels from the original Donkey Kong or DK Jr. Someone at DD’s level would have much more success I would guess. |

Perhaps I need to see Red Piranha Plants also. There is a Sideways one and the Giant ones but never mini. Speaking of Plants why not create the Sideways Venus Plants shown on this map (edited by insectduel-kitty on 03-07-06 02:48 PM) |

Whether or not you like them, these are just any idea I thought of randomly so good or bad or whatever.
1.) Instead of having the traditional bosses, (the koopa kids), if Mario and Luigi have their own paths to save the princess, how about each boss is the other one. So if you choose Mario, you fight Luigi. 2.) Either the first idea or just have the smaller Boom Booms be Mario or Luigi depending on who you choose. |

Here's my idea. Make one of those Boss Bass levels where instead of water, there is quicksand. Try putting a Boss Bass in lava too. You could make a skeleton version of the enemy if you wanted.
Do you think it's possible to make a level that scrolls vertically? |

I think of Excite Mario Bros.. If you recall the pikachu enemy in the game would bounce towards you but not hurt you. This was a harmless character that just annoyed you. Take this concept to have a characer bouncing around the level just for show purposes. Something cool like toad moving around or the fairies at the end of SMB2 USA could just float around and be harmless in somelevels. OR possibly have a mini game where you have to catch this special character for some reason. maybe for a key. This would add a lot to the visuals a lot. |

Mario and Luigi each have different sprite sets, completely different worlds and levels to explore and even exclusive items, which to me, out shines just swapping charactrs out to play the same levels. Though I believe one world will have you play the same levels with different characters with different spots catered to each character. I still stand by what I said yonder days ago: Converge the two worlds, so to say. For example, in World 2, Mario could be in a mountain path. Then, in World 5 for Luigi, Luigi finds himself in the same world, although it's... different. Perhaps a canyon Mario used collapsed and now Luigi has to find a new path. Or maybe a monsoon came through and there's a huge storm, forcing Luigi into some ruins. Or maybe just some huge apocolyptic event deforming all of Mario's levels, causing Luigi to have to play through in a new light.
I love those kind of things <3 |

A level where you replace that foreground "water (still)" with lava and create a vertical autoscrolling, so Mario has to quickly jump to not fall in lava and has to avoid various traps all along the level; for example like that acid dungeon level in DKC2. | |||

Dahrkdaiz. I wanted to say 1 thing, Please make ''The
coin that pops out of the ? block'' from 8x16 to 16x16 like your ''SMW Fireball Coin'' so it can match the coins perfectly. And make sure that you leave the color (Yellow/Brown) And if you want you can change the coin graphics to SMW style. |

My main thing I'm looking for is a hack idea that would breathe fresh life into a level. Like the levels I made where you have to collect so many coins to move on. That's a nice change of pace than just from going from A to B. I want ideas like that mostly. For the most part, the major stuff is done but Im running really dry on level ideas and if I can get some new level objectives that would nudge me forward for a few more worlds, otherwise I sit staring at the level editor hoping something good comes to my head |
