...Speaking of mappings, I've been stomping around Sonic 2 a bit myself, with a disassembly and SonEd2. Got any info or links regarding those... mappings? I have a folder full of them.

Hivebrain's site has info and downloads on everything Sonic hacking related. Or maybe it would, if he were to update it anytime soon. You should be able to find everything you need there, Giko. But if you can't, there's a slew of other sites you can try, like www.sws2b.com/forums/index or www.sonicresearch.org.
And I take it that the "something more interesting" has already been bouncing around in your head, as indicated by the smiley? Or am I just imagining that? And will you tell me what the heck I gave you an idea for a while back at the SSRG music-wise? =/ |

Okay, nice mapping guide. Too bad it's for sprites. What I'd like to know is more along background mappings.
I have the Sonic 2 splitted dissembly, so I have nearly all assets in seperate files. What I intend to edit is mappings\misc\0x074D0E - SEGA mappings.bin. Because I want to make it read "sage". Don't think it's sprite-based. Except maybe Sonic when he runs past. |

Ask and you shall recieve:
Enemies spawn rings when destroyed (Note the custom life icon and monitors =P) Milisecond (Or Centisecond, but whatever) counter in action. Title screen. |

Totally awesome. I rarely go out of my way to play a hack, since most of them are all the same, but I can see myself playing this one all the way through when you put it out! ^^

Are those monitor sprites based off of Sonic Adventure 2, or is Johnny letting you and Stephen use his sprites? I can imagine he would, since he already said that Project Shadow is discontinued for now. Either way, the palette for LZ looks good (with the exception of that odd ring palette, which I presume you'll fix).
*points to sig* And the petition still stands. =P (edited by Metal Knuckles on 03-04-06 09:05 PM) |

Yeah, they're Johnny's. He gave me permission to use all his Shadow-related stuffs, and I intend to make good use of them. Since Sonic 1 is only 512kb, I have plenty of room for multiple sets of art for each character. It also gives me the opportunity to mess around with past ideas, and include them in some shape or form.
As for that log... I'll consider it. =P |

Shadows special should be something to do with Chaos Control.

This looks, so very great..
Only complaint is that Shadow's life icon looks sorta funny, it's nothing big. Also, why is the other item monitor (Screenshot 2) not changed? |

Wow, these new screenshots are amazing! I love Green Hill's new palette, it makes it seem like a sunset in Autumn. Keep this up. One question though - whatever happened to using Azure Lake Zone's tiles in the place of Green Hill's original tiles? Just curious.

Answering both questions above at the same time, the first picture is a more updated pic then the second one of GHZ. You can see that by the life icons being different, as well as the monitors (or what's left of it in the 2nd pics place). So for all I know, and I don't, that palette for GHZ, or GHZ itself, might not exist in the latest version of the game if it was replaced by ALZ's tiles.

For Shadow's power, I'd like to see a combination of two already existing powers (from Sonic 3):
Regular double jump = Fire Dash (with purple streaks instead, perhaps?) Double jump while holding up = Hyper Sonic's up-holding double jump It wouldn't be _too_ much movement if you're giving Mighty wall climbing powers. |

Double-jump for Shadow is partially complete... I've just gotta work on momentum a bit and it's done.
What MK said is correct - It will be replaced with Azure Lake when it's finished; This is just a placeholder for the time being. The "Fire Dash" is something I'm kinda planning for Sonic. But it'll be more like the Jump Dash from Sonic Adventure. |

Sorry, but I'm not exactly sure about how far you (Tweaker) are with this whole hack, i.e. how long until the first (demo) release. |
