There was another method of making Rain and Snow, by putting it on Layer 3 or something. Let's see...

another way is to edit exgfx animations to a 'falling rain' and put it on layer 1 acting like tile 25. _¬ | |||

Layer 3 GFX are loaded once, when you start the game, and never touched again. You might be able to hack the ExGFX loading routine to replace those tiles instead of Layer 1/2, based on a list of "special" level numbers or something, but Lunar Magic would have issues with this, of course... | |||

I think that'd be especially difficult, seeing as layer 3 graphics have a different format and everything. It'd probably be easier to write your own layer 3 ExGFX system. Of course, you'd need to restore the old graphics somehow.

How does that layer 3 rain thing work? I guess the ExGFX file must somehow control it… could someone explain to me how it works? |
