Well, I'd like to start by saying hi, because I've been gone for a while, but I will get right to the point. I have to have oral surgery tomorrow. I hate regular dentists (some fear of mine) but an oral surgeon? Anyway, they are going to take out my three wisdom teeth (apparently I was only born with three ) and "perduade" two, uhh, canines I think, to come in since they won't on their own. No, it won't be fun, but at least they'll knock me out for it. And on the flip side I get a four-day weekend . Maybe even a new video game to make up for all the suffering.
So, I'd like to ask you guys: have any of you had oral surgery before? What was it like? Thanks for the input. |

Nope never. Oral and surgery should not be in the same sentance, ever.
I hate needles... there's no need for there to be needles in my mouth. Ever. |

I like needles in my arm, but only if there's heroin in it.

You're going to be in alot of pain for a while. You're also going to be incredibly high for several hours. And if you fall asleep during those hours, you won't wake up. Ever.

Oh, you got knocked out. Lucky. I only got massively frozen.
It's not THAT bad but your mouth's going to feel ugh for around 3 days. Maybe a bit more depending how sensitive you are/how quick the healing is. |

Yeah, the actual surgery will be cake, because you'll be out. For the next half-day, you'll probably be out of it. After that, you'll most likely sleep a lot and your (lack of) teeth will hurt. And you won't be able to eat real food.

For whatever reason, I wasn't in all that much pain at all when mine got yanked. Granted, only two needed to come out, but it was nowhere near as terrible as I'd been made to expect. The laughing gas was quite an experience (though some people get sedated while others only receive novacaine), and I remember my main problem being the massive bleeding afterwards. I only took the prescribed painkiller once, and later realized that I really wasn't even feeling mild discomfort, so I didn't have to resort to it again.
If not for the blood (which lost me a good pillowcase or two), and the accompanying need to frequently change the gauze and occasionally gargle salt water, it wouldn't have been much of a problem at all. Your mileage will certainly vary. |

And what's up with Silver Shield throwing away bloody pillow cases? The blood makes them look incredibly manly. I mean, I've poured like 390280943209327450 gallons of blood onto my bedding.

Originally posted by WurlFirst of all, Whirl, it's Silvershield. And who ever said I threw them away? By "lost," I mean I had to stop using them for their original purpose (as pillowcases) and instead begin wearing them as t-shirts, to display my sheer masculinity to the masses. Note that I did all this while chewing on nails and punching small animals in the face. Yes, I am that hardcore. |

First of all Silvershield, it's Wurl. Using "Whirl" patronizes my deep German ancestory and I'd like it if you wouldn't do it.
Second, chewing on your nails is lame. Third of all, you can't be hardcore and Christian. It's one or the other, so choose. |

I don't have to get my wisdom teeth out. Ever. Besides the last time I had to get teeth pulled for my permanant teeth to grow in before they started growing in crooked as my baby teeth wouldn't fall out. I was never put asleep and I never bled that much. Of course I got novacane for it though or at least I think I did...

Nope, I've never had anything done to my mouth, not even braces. I somehow got blessed with teeth straight enough to not need them, and so far my wisdom teeth have given me no problems, and I'm going on 17.
Not a single cavity. |

Aah, it feels good to be lucky. I havenīt had a single problem with my wisdom teeth. And all of them have appeared.
I got several teeth pulled when I was younger to make room for new teeth but nothing more than that. The needles arenīt THAT painful but I donīt like them. |

You're all pussies, if my teeth were loose I pulled them myself, no pliers, no tools just my bare hands. I'd twist and pull that tooth out of my gums, most of the time while I was at school just so I could go home for a week because I was frightening the other children. Funny thing is I have perfect teeth because I pulled all my loose ones out at a very early age. |
