But this time, it won't be the number itself. As you can see, that leads to a board problem...

I´m VERY tempted to post all those digits in here just to be plain evil. But I won´t.

You know why? Because it´d probably get me banned.

I decided to be a dick and several times loaded that guys's 1million digit page, delete it out of my cache, then reload it to fuck his bandwidth (~1MB per load). Anybody using the inertnet for such stupid shit deserves that kind of treatment.

You're right. Two million would be wayyyy better. A million is paltry.

But seriously, what? It's the internet. The day it's not stupid or supposed to be will be the end of the world. And that was pretty cool, if pointless enough to make me not read all of it besides randomly jamming the "skip button". It would have been better if he started making stuff up halfway through.

[EDIT: Finding your phone number is better anyway.]
[EDIT: My high-score is 25198140 with 3141592.]

Nah, you would just have to wait forever as the post uploads, then the server's diskspace runs out and odd stuff happens.

Meh, he decreased the number of PI's on his page. Lame.

Hmm, I wonder why I don't see bible fanatics telling us that PI is just 3. xD

But pi is exactly three!!! I don't care what any of you say, the computers are all wrong!!! PI=3 not 22/7 It is three!!!

And if it isn't, then well, the world will end because their using of 22/7 made decimals and we all know that decimals will blow up computers and end the world.

But yeah if someone were to actually get all of the numbers of pi it would probably fill up a room. Because you know that somewhere they round it off.

You're right, you would get banned for pointlessly overworking my database server.

You can also pointlessly overwork the database server by previewing the million decimal places as a reply. I'm tempted to post it but I don't want to be banned.

And ||bass it seems your layout is broken.

Of course they round it off, it becomes 22/7. Also, if 2 dimensional things were to fill a 3 dimensional room, I'd be very confused.

I did that last time, but the post deleted itself. I thought you knew that, ||Zero.... seeing as it's your server. Unless I'm missing a point.

EDIT: Or ||X, or maybe ||Sigma?

Pi bugs me out. It just HAS to start repeating sometime. It's not possible for the numbers from 0-9 to keep repeating on and on for eternity and never ever repeat.

I'm just waiting for the day that one crazy mathematician finally finds the end of pi.

pi has been proven to be a transcendental number, which is a number that does not have a corresponding rational expression (i.e. a fraction)

In 1882, German mathematician F. Lindemann proved that pi is transcendental, finally putting an end to 2,500 years of speculation. In effect, he proved that pi transcends the power of algebra to display it in its totality. It can't be expressed in any finite series of arithmetical or algebraic operations. -- Wisconson Physics Profressor

If Pi were to have a repeating pattern, it would mean it was rational, i.e. able to expressed as a fraction of two integers. But it has been proven to be irrational. Irrational is good enough to be non repeating, but it is in fact transcendental, which is an even more special class. That doesn't make it special though, there are an infinite number of transcendentals.

So out of the limited set of digits 1234567890.. there can be a pattern that will NEVER repeat? Ever?

That just seems impossible to me.. but math was never my forte.

It's not that a pattern will never repeat; obviously small patterns will repeat quite a lot (like 252 or whatever). But if you keep going you will never reach a point where you can describe the rest of the number with one repeating sequence. It will never go back to 314159 etc and just keep going until it reaches that point and start over again and keep doing that indefinitely. It will never repeat a sequence, even millions of digits long, without eventually doing something else.

In other words, since PI is infinite then you probably could find Shakesphears work in alphabetical order... just convert PI into hex, and then just use your favorite text editor to look.

In other words... infinity scares me.
