The redesign reminds me very much about how revolution looks like. Probably want it to fit together obviously. They also changed the location of start and select. |

That is quite the sexy-beast. I think I might pick one of these up. Any word on additional functional changes (like making it hard to play the GBA gamez?!?!) or will it be a simple redesign?

It will still be able to play GBA games, considering that DS contains two processors. Only one of them is used in GBA games, but both of them are used in DS games. If they removed GBA support, they would render "accesories" such as the rumble pack useless and all the past DS games too. So I can't see them dropping GBA support.
As far as I see it, it's mostly a redesign. It says that the screen is going to be better too but... that's hard to verify for now. |

Meh, unless they double the size of the XABY buttons and get rid of the "clickiness" of it all, I won't touch it. Also, does this system look smaller than the original DS to anyone else? The DS is too small for my tastes to begin with, my hand cramps when playing it for too long, which wasn't true of my GBA...I wonder why that is. Perhaps because the GBA is thicker than the bottom half of the DS, but not thicker than the entire thing. And now I'm thinking aloud...

Uh, yes, that's why it's called light.
And I agree; the buttons are already too small for my hand, and the placement of the ABXY buttons is just crap (I always thought it should be.. Y B X A Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll move it around so GBA games aren't so awkward to play anymore... |

Eh. Doesn't look terribly appealing to me, though I can understand why some would want it.
One question though Where the hell is the Power button? |

Originally posted by Xkeeper It should not, now it has the perfect SNES allingment. It just should support remapping the buttons, like on a Super GameBoy. |

Problem is that I think it's hardwired into the GBA part or something. And meh... the pretty much only GBA game I played on my DS is Advance wars. xD And the Pokémon games, where the button configuration dosen't annoy me too much... but I admit it's wierd for us who was used to how it was on SNES games.

They might as well call it the DS Nano since it does look very Apple-ish. Smaller and slimmer.
Granted, it's not a radical change or anything but it should shut up the people who keep complaining that they accidentally turn the power off. |

This looks pretty nice. Hopefully, everything else that is wrong with the DS *coughdeadpixelscough* will be fixed as well with this.

Dead pixels can happen in anything electronic.
Maybe the number of units with them will decrease, but they'll still exist. |

That's true, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the DS has so many reports of them. I rarely see anyone complaining about dead pixels on their monitors or televisions. However, I've heard a lot of reports about the DS having them. Of course, if they do fix the fact that they seem to come around with ease, there are still going to be some. But they won't be as plentiful was they were before, and that's all that matters. Right? (edited by asdf on 01-26-06 10:57 PM) |

My laptop has a dead pixel on it, and my mobile phone (which I got very recently) also has a dead pixel despite having an incredibly small screen. I don't think the DS has any more or less dead pixel problems than any other electronic with LCD screens.

Its smaller too...the actual selling price will determine this for me. I might need to wait until it drops alot before I can afford it. But I'll probably end up buying it eventualy. You're talking to the girl who actualy bought the Micro .__.;;

Well, it seems to be very exotic in a weird way but I won´t get it since I already have a DS. With no dead pixels at all.
Are they adding any features to this one more than the small size? My cousin has a GB Micro. It looks quite cool too. |

One word to describe this rendition (even though Nintendo did do the EXACT same thing with the GBA Micro):
Seiously; Nintendo, this shit has to stop It weighs fine, it looks fine, and feels fine as it is now. I'm not shelling out $150 more dollars to become a more dedicated Nintendo whore than I already am. |
