Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a shot.
Anyway, the title should say it. Once you get the level to appear yellow on the map, the game's made so you can't go back in. Is there any hack of modifying this behaviour (preferably without modifying the ROM itself...)? |

But as far as I know, no one else has done it... yet. Perhaps Fu can take this into consideration. |

Nope. Fortunetly, most of those levels are quite bland. But at any rate, I'd like to see this happen as well. I doubt Fu or his brother would be willing to do it though, I think they've left the internet.

Well what I was going for was savestate hacking or one of the cheat device codes.... I guess IPS patches are just fine anyway, symlink the ROM and there I go.
And since DW:TLC is a HiROM, you can't load it in the normal Lunar Magic even if you decrypt (read: unlock LM-locked hacks) the file (assuming it's encrypted in the first place, Fu may as well have kept it "unlocked" for use only with a special LM). So real hacking would have to be imvolved for a game whose structures are almost entirely different from the original SMW. EDIT: Well I was just noticing, if you make DW:TLC sparse, the file only takes 3.2MB of space on-disk. I wonder if it's possible to deflate the zero-bit areas and put it back into LoROM zone. I'm probably just dreaming. (edited by FreeDOS on 01-21-06 03:48 PM) |

Possible, but I imagine you'd have to change a lot of pointers. And by patching I was referring to a feature various emus have, where any IPS patch with the same name as the ROM will be applied in memory.

A little off topic, but how did Fu make it so that the ROM name appears white at the beginning? (ie whenever you load a rom in SNES9x, it appears a certain color [white if clean] how does he do that?)

HH: And by symlinking I meant not having to have an extra few megabytes, just symlink it to the unpatched DW:TLC, have an .ips file of the symlink's name, and there you go. Load the "patched" or unpatched ROM in emulators at your choosing . An IPS patch changing just the overworld I can't image being more than a handful of bytes.
Also, even if someone could make a LoROM-version of DW:TLC, it doesn't necessarily make it any more possible to load into Lunar Magic. Either Fu gives up with keeping his specialized version or someone makes a DW:TLC editor (or no one does or gives a shit). spel werdz rite: SNES ROM headers aren't a secret nor hard to modify. |

Ah, yes, if you want the option of loading the unpatched ROM (without renaming it) that would be the way to go. |
