Or a retired truck driver that managed to get his degree or something like that?
I mean there are many possibilities and logically my original answer is the most probable, unless it was just spel werdz rite doing his namesake. |

It's very simple. There are far more truck drivers than there are Ivy League English professors. By pure numbers the probility is in the truckers' favor. | |||

Without reading the thread...
It could be either. The short, slim build may be the result of long nights staying up and reading, writing, or devising brilliant ways to present literature to one's pupils, or it could be wrought from long hours behind the wheel of a giant truck, with little opportunity for food or sleep. The poetry? Well, someone's gotta have something to do in their spare time. Both truck drivers and ivy league professors get a good bit of that to work with. And I could be stretching this, but, well, what if it's an Ivy League professor that drives a truck? Not all trucks are the big 18 wheel kind that people get paid to drive. Disclaimer's over. |

I talked to someone at work before I knew that I was the "winner." He suggested the idea that the terms slim and short are distinguishing features of somebody. However, liking poetry was not a distinguishing feature of an Ivy League english professor. You would almost expect him/her to like poetry by default. Thus it would never come up in the conversation. But a trucker liking poetry would defy expectation and would thus be talked about in a conversation. I liked this answer too.
(However, the question doesn't ask us to assume a conversation was taking place, and it was also geared towards probability, so my friends answer really isn't a proper response.) (edited by MathOnNapkins on 01-16-06 12:03 AM) |
