Hey I am having a real bad problem with my N64 and and my game shark. About 2 months ago I started to use my old game shark version 2.0 again, the red light on the cartridge would count down from 10-3 seconds and would freeze up and wouldn't boot up after a while my old game shark would not boot up with my cartridges or without them, my N64 can boot up cartridges without any screws up..... I went to a online store and bought a new game shark pro 3.3 this brand new one won't even display the number or won't even boot up at all keep in mind that I just got this yesterday factory sealed up. the only thing it will do when I turn it on is flicker a small green screen for about 2 seconds and will quickly turn black and give me the same problems.
Can somebody please help me out with this issue please ? |

It's probably the N64. Though Gamesharks are for pussies.

Originally posted by Wurl To be fair, they can be used to make the game harder, or just plain different (Hard Mode code in FFT giving all enemies mastery of all jobs, and in the same game it can be used for entirely custom classes). But yeah, they're usually used for cheating. And Gamesharks are never the most durable things... even a sealed one could potentially be damaged horribly. =/ |

Actually, I had a mis-hap with a gameboy GameShark. My asshole brother dropped it in the snow in November. I found it next March, yet it still worked. I haven't used a GameShark since. They take out the fun for me.

^ Me too. Gamesharks are some of the crappiest hardware ever made. (And for that matter, the software sucks too.) Only solution I've found is to keep trying and smacking it a lot. Just make sure you wait a second between turning the N64 off and on again, it won't boot (even without a GS) if you do it too fast.

Ok I just bought a brand new N64 just now and I decided to test my old game shark 2.0 system on it, the good news the LED on this game shark lights up and stays on 8, the bad news is the damn thing won't countdown and and take me to the boot screen for game shark..... As for the game shark pro 3.3 the Mother F****** won't even give any sign of life WTF is going on with this blasted thing ?? can anybody help me any further or give me a link to a site that can help me fix this damn thing ?
What does the Number 8 stand for on the gamesharks LED ? |

8 means it isnt loading up. Factory sealed Gameshark? "Brand new" Nintendo 64? Since they are both out of production, someone obviously has been cheating you. Someone laminated a box with a busted GS in it and sold it to you as new. Ha.

I figured this shit out personally, I opened up the game shark 3.3 cartrige with my computer tools and compared my old game shark to this one and apparently there is supposed to be a led light on the new game shark and also this hardware was supposed to have to small black memory chips on this including a third large one that said DATEL systems or circuts also on the back of the game shark 3.3 there is supposed white dot on the cartrige that says v3.3 so basically I figured I just got screwed by a company called classic gaming, and the asshole who sold me this game shark her name is Michelle lee.....

Normally they pop up with the number 8, then count down from 5. If you can get the 8 to come up, it's close to working.

Supposedly you can fix one using another by doing that. It cooked mine though. |
