Some sort of IM would be nice if you had one. Really though, this is quite simple.
First, find a FTP client. If you use Windows I would suggest Leech FTP. If you have a Mac I would suggest Cyberduck. Just google it to find them. Then, you need to open the client. Once done, click New Connection or whatever it says. Then type in you're server which for this site would be board.acmlm.org. Put the username, which is the name you used to get the site. If you are using funpic or something, your name server would be, for example, acmlm.ac.totalandcompletefailure.net and the username would be acmlm. Then for the pass, it would just be the FTP pass you chose. If you didn't change it at all, it's just the pass that you used to register for the site. Then, the longest and near final part, you click and drag all the files from the folder you downloaded into the client. Once you've done that, you'll have to go into your dbinfo and change the info there. If you need help with that just say so. Once fixed, reupload it into the lib folder and overwrite the old dbinfo. Now you're almost finished. Go to your PMA which would be, let's use the funpic example again, http://phpmyadmin.ac.totalandcompletefailure.net. This is where I always have errors but I'll try to help you as much as I can. Hit database and then click SQL. Now you click import file or browse and choose the SQL file that came with the 1.A2 folder, which I believe is drop.sql. If you get an error, I can't help you because I was never good with that. Once you're done with that you can start adding forums and everything. A suggestiong though is that you may want to check how to fix the holes first. There's a thread here about that. If you could maybe give a link to your site that would be of some help. I hope I helped. If you need anymore help you can AIM me at X7R33M3R and my MSN Messanger is TuRBo_DS_MaSTeR@hotmail.com. |

My best recommendation is to use 1.92. It's more stable and 1.a just sucked terribly.

Originally posted by Seanbox344 I normaly don't mind such things, but since he isn't asking help with 1.A2, that comment was pretty much useless. When/If he runs into problems, then recommend 1.92 (because I've seen 1.A2/3 work well. PRetty well) |

I've helped as much as I could but there really isn't much anyone can do UNLESS he feels like giving out his password because he can't upload files because of the low internet connection. So really, if he can't even start it up, he should just wait a while until he gets a faster internet connection to actually do things himself. Then decide which one to use. Personally, I'm using 1.A2 right now, but I have a board with 1.92. I haven't done anything with it though, and don't plan on doing anything with it anytime soon. It's his choice, so he can choose what he wants to use on his site. So it all depends on how he feels. 1.A2 is easier to manage at first but once you get your site pretty far on 1.92 is nice because it allows you to do more. Just pick whichever one you want.

Anything v1.Ax is not official, and not supported. Simple as that.

Originally posted by drizzt do'urdenOriginally posted by Cellar DwellerOriginally posted by Elric Well, not really. There isn't really an official version. The closest to that would be 1.92 because it's the last touched by Acmlm. But there was never meant to be officialy released and stuff. |

Yes, there was. Acmlm personally made versions up to 1.92 available to people, and his plan was to make v2.0 publicly availabe to the entire world. |
