Reading is good.

Real-life driving generally doesn't involve dodging banana peels and incoming shells while making a 120° turn at 80 km/h with someone ramming you from the side and a pit of lava with no guardrail at the edge of the track. See above. Being good with heavier characters and not light ones is understandable, but being good with all the light characters except one just makes no sense.
What kind of 'team' battle has you kill your teammates, though? It kinda defeats the point of teams.

From your first response it just sounds like you're being stupid here. Oh, snap, each character has different stats and they're not conveniently put into stupid categories! SOMETHING IS WRONG
And anyways, I'm just going to make a blanket statement and say that you're not very good at the game if you're unable to pay attention to two things at once. Again, you don't have to focus on the second screen the entire time On the subject of the blue shell, if they're a ways back from you, the decision is obvious; take the blue shell and don't bother with a risky maneuver. As for you being good with everyone but Toad, I horridly doubt that, but until you get that wireless router I can't prove it to you. But just take my word on this. You are the ONLY one who thinks there are too many pits, and you are the ONLY one who's having that much trouble with the mic, and yeah team battle sucks, WE KNOW. |

I do peek at the map fairly often, and it does help to dodge green shells and bananas. However it's not much use knowing where an incoming shell is when it heads straight for you anyway. And spiny shells don't even show up on it half the time.
This does nothing to address the fact that there's too damn many of them.
I can totally smoke the AI with every other character I have, and can barely stay on the track with Toad. I can't see how that doesn't indicate some problem with him.
My brother and a friend of his have both been playing the game even more than I have, and agree with me on nearly all of these points. They each have their own DS, so it's not that my mic is broken. I've actually found the physics problems to vary between levels, and not in ways that make sense. Some levels are fine, others are just wrong... I can handle fine on solid ice, but slide around like crazy on a beach. (edited by HyperHacker on 12-29-05 09:53 AM) |

You're right about the balloons. safdsfada. I nearly passed out before I blew just one up. Is there an alternative to this? Like saying "shhhhh" real loud or putting a nebulizer connector on the mic? (It's old, and I grew out of asthma...)

Incidentally, in battle, all I ever do is blow up one balloon then run around dodging the stuff thrown at me until I pick up a mushroom, then steal a third balloon and run around like a berserker, and repeating once I finally get hit.

Only blow gently into the microphone or it won't detect it. I figured that out after a while.
I'm able to dodge red shells on certain tracks only. Blue Shells seem to fire randomly ,for me in 150cc grand prix, at a double shot; two hits in five seconds. Each character seems to add a modifier to the cart of choice. When I figure out the exact modifiers, I'll say. (I think Bowser = 1.0 weight point while Wario = 0.8. DK = 0.9) |

I've completed a 150cc Grandprix finishing forst while only looking at the map, and still managed to get an A. It's not that hard

Try the retro cup. The tracks are so small, that the CPU's are practically SADISTIC! Makes me want to get a grip on Power Slide Mini Turboing...
Plus, you spoiled rob for me. But, I never knew DB was that light! I'm going to take that in consideration. (edited by Shyguy on 12-28-05 10:58 PM) |

Yeah, SMK had way too little track space.
Also, I found it's much easier to blow up balloons if you aren't moving when you do it. This of course isn't explained anywhere. |

fabio was right, though. I think it picks up air AND sound. But can't pick up both. Therefore, you saying "FFFFFFfff!" isn't going to help your balloon.

ABOUT THE MANUAL.
What the heck is "release R to perfprm a mini-turbo"? Nintendo is normally really good at this kind of stuff. Spelling and revision and all. |

I don't know how you managed to even DO special cup looking only at the map, because inevitably, at the last lap on bowser's caslte, I get nuked by a blue shell and get tossed into lava.
SERIOUSLY. THREE TIMES IN A ROW. HERAJZRQwyhwereryhea Then, once, I made it into rainbow road, and got hit by a blue shell one foot away from the finish line. One foot! Then my competition came from behind and I got fourth Seriously.. I don't accept less then first.... Not against a computer... so I have to reset the cup and do the easy tracks again, only to inevitably get bombed in the worst possible spot. (edited by Tatrion on 12-29-05 08:43 PM) |

According to the timetrial path recorder thing, hopping speeds you up a little. So when you get hit by a trap, just hop a few times to get a better recovery.
