| One way: take the black background color off your table
Another way: which is similar to Bloodstar's along the sides of his layout; you have to use style="filter:alpha(opacity=75)" in your td tags. I think that it will only show if you're using IE, however. |

Semi-transparent:
style="filter:alpha(opacity=70); -moz-opacity:0.70; opacity:0.7;"
