I dispise Kmart and Walmart because they're usually filthy and have many overflowing lines, but only three (or two) checkouts open. |

The Kmart closest to me (well, over the border) is actually quite nice for a Kmart... but it was an absolute mess before they remodeled it. The OLD lunch room that was a throwback to the 70's...
I miss Ames. |

They recently put an addition onto the Target by my house and turned it into a Super Target that sells standard Target items as well as groceries. I still haven't checked it out, though. Maybe I should.

Of all the Targets, Kmarts, and Wal-Marts I've been in, they're all basically the same.
The Targets may be a little more spacious and have nicer displays, to appear more upscale and get you to spend more on the same thing, but all three of them are equally clean (since they're dealing with the same health codes), sell the same products, and have the same amount of underpaid, non-unionized employees. If you think its cool or trendy to shop at Target, and not Wal-Mart, well, you're just an idiot, sorry. |

I opened this thread and expected it to say "lies" in bold print.
Also, we have nothing but Wal-mart around here. |

Lies. There you go.
I haven't seen a big box retailer in such a while. Last time I checked, they were all about the same. |

Great waste of your 5000th post, HH.
I don't like self-checkouts... too fickle. Just have enough people working to keep the lines moving and it's all good. |

Originally posted by emcee Uh, no. Maybe wherever the hell you live, but I've been in all three, and walking through Wal-mart usually means dealing with (sigh) areas on the floor that obviously haven't been cleaned in a while, or areas where aisles were removed but they never cleaned up what was underneath it (so it's all nasty and brown, and full of small holes), not to mention some of the shelves aren't up right and it just looks like crap in general. K-mart is the same way. Target, on the other hand, usually has very clean floors, and everything's ordered nicely and easy to find without wasting hours. It's worth wasting an extra dollar or two for the added cleanliness that Target has. |

K-Mart is da SLUMS, man. The aisles are crooked, poor and dirty people wander around, cheap plastic crud is for sale, old unwanted Martha Stewart Living stuff sits around, dust everywhere, holes in the floor, checkers who talk about stealing anime off the internet all day long, and ferns which mysteriously die the minute you take them home...
Wal-mart is about the same, a bit cleaner but the blood on their hands with the China thing makes them seem unkosher to me. Target is the place to go, considering the aisles are actually clean. |

Yeesh. My situation is this: Wal Mart would be miles away, K-Mart is...Eh. And, Target...I have no damn idea if one exists around here. Sooo...yea.

I only have wal-mart in my area. The local Super Wal-Mart ain't that bad. It's fairly clean. The only problem is that wandering around with nowhere to sit gets very tiring.

Screw each and every one of these stores. There are two major retail stores worth shopping in - Fred Meyer, and Costco.
I don't particularly care that Fred Meyer doesn't exist except on the U.S. west coast. |
