I was looking through google patents when I found this Converter thing. It seems to have been made for the Famicon but was made a little late. I guess it was ignored because the SNES was about to be released. Could this have been the proto of the GB converter? I can't tel what It would be converting but a GB game would probably be the logical choice. | |||

Looks more like a rudimentary Famicom to SNES converter actualy (which is somewhat reinforced by the fact that it lists the copyrights for the NES and Famicom respectively..)
Anyways, it wouldn't be the first, as they used such converters behind the scenes in many NES games. Perhaps they were planning on comercializing it, but probably realized at that time there wouldn't be that large of a market for Japanese games in America...I really don't know. It's kind of interesting though. |

Sega did it with the SMS/Genesis so maybe if that actually caught on, Nintendo would have given it a shot.
Of course, it probably would have cost $50 and the new NES was going for $50 at that time, so... |
