I have a bit of information on RSP commands used in various N64 games (though they can and probably do vary between games ), but it's proving not to be enough. I was wondering if anyone has any information about the commands used in Nintendo's games (primarily Mario Kart, but I imagine there's little difference among them). More importantly, I was wondering if there are any N64 emulators that use RSP high-level emulation, and if their source is available. I was hoping there might be one that doesn't actually emulate the RSP at all, essentially re-implementing commonly used binaries in native code. I think Nemu64 does this (it does the same with the game's boot code to avoid CRC issues), but its source isn't available.
For that matter are there any N64 emulators with decent debuggers? Nemu is the only one I know of and it's just argh. |

project 64 is open source. don't know if its high level or what, though. 1946 is, too. Daedulus. Mupen64, ultraHLE.
so yeah. I found all that on one page, containing links to the various websites, by simply searching "project64 open source" god google rocks. |

Project64 is freeware for PERSONAL USE only. aka, not open source. Source code availability does not equal open source.

^ You've got a point, but what term would one use for something that has source code available. Most people are going to think of the term open source.

that's exactly why I prefer the term Free Software; both of them have their ambiguities (at least in English), but non-free sounds so much better than calling something "closed source" when the source code is released under restrictive licenses (Microsoft goes so far to call their thing "Shared Source", even though you're required to sign NDAs and never actually share it; doublethink at its finest).
I'm getting ahead of myself. I'd just call it non-free software, sounds so much better and easier to describe. |

OK fine Mr Fussy.
And I checked PJ64, it actually emulates the RSP. Probably any recent ones do. |
