I just joined recently, and I'm not a super-genius, so please, don't call me a newb.
Anyway, I have a few annoying bugs in my hack. 1. The sky is black 2. almost all sprites appear behind the background, 3. When I beat this one level, nothing happens, It doesn't lead to any level. Nothing. |

Perhaps you should read the help file.

Sounds to me like you just have a bad SMW rom? Might wanna get a different one.
If that isn't it, what did you change? |

It all happened when I tried to change Yoshi's House. Well, at least that's why the sky is black, and most sprites are behind the background.
Also, I can't create a new hack, because I will hopelessly mess everything up, because I don't even know how to create events on the overworld, and such. |

Yoshi's House is one of those areas you don't want to change.
If you change things around there, I believe it will affect the ending part where Mario, Yoshi, Princess Peach, and the 7 Yoshi eggs get to Yoshi's House. You should leave that level unchanged. |

I believe I realize that now. But, is there any way to fix it, while keeping my ROM?

Originally posted by Knight of Time Hopefully these will solve your probelms..except for 2. A1- During the level that has the black background click the multi coloured star on the tool bar. Near the top right of the screen you will see a drop down menu that says "Back Area Colour X" (X should appear as a number from 0--7 depending on which back area palate you are using). Change the back area colour until you find a colour you like. A2-Not really sure... A3-Select the level that is causing you poblems on the overworld editor (on layer 1 16X16 editor mode). Then open "Modify Level Tile Settings" Dialog" on the tool bar and change the direction mario should move after he clears that level (make sure there is a green/blue path for him to follow by clicking "View Layer 1 Mario Paths" on the tool bar. I can't go on LM right now, but I'll try your 3rd help as soon as I can. As for the first, unfortunatly, EVERY level has a black sky, but I set the sky for another color. But I thank you for the first one.

Originally posted by Lord Myre For your first problem do what I said at first but click the black square beside "Back Area Colour X " And change it that way" (if it works note that every level that uses that back area palate will have the background colour). The third one helped, and, to kill 2 birds with one stone, helped me find out why Mario kept swimming on land in the overworld. But, I guess that I can never fix the black sky glitch.

Doesn't the sky turn black if transparency is disabled in the emulators? I think so, but it has been a while since I've looked.

No, it happened the instant I edited Yoshi's House.

Unless you pressed random buttons on the tool bar and edited everything on the screens that pop up I don't think it's possible to have a permanent problem from editing Yoshi's House. make sure every layer is showing up on your emulator (if you're using ZSNES press 2 at the top your keyboard).
