If you eat more unclean food, your immune system can stand those kind of things better.
So people eating fast food might be able to resist e.coli better. Still, don't go start eating shit now. :/ (edited by Mighty Furfag on 01-28-07 05:04 AM) |

The only proper way to upgrade your immune system by food is onions and garlic any other way is vaccines or just time itself

No. The only proper way to upgrade your immune system is by getting sick. A lack of challenge leads to decay; if you live a completely sterile life, you'll be incredibly vulnerable.

What do you think I meant by "time"? Sitting on the couch?

A biology teacher would've given you a big 0 for that answer, though.

I do not know what to say about the responses in here...But I suppose I'll try something.
Firstly, your body will never grow an immunity to E.Coli. Thats a given. Hell, you produce the shit on a daily basis. Secondly, you only have to boil your vegetables (Or any infected food) before eating them to eliminate any trace of the bacteria. They do not produce spores once incubated. That means it is not contagious unless you have direct contact with the bacteria itself, either through absorption, inhalation (If it becomes airborne) or ingestion. The comment that some people are able to resist it better is also bullshit. Everyone can get the common cold or influenza. Why should E.Coli be any different? The fact that older people got it means they're more susceptible to it than other people, but that doesn't make other people immune. (edited by Rom Manic on 01-29-07 11:42 AM) |

I think what he meant was that e-coli most commonly kills children and pensioners because their immune systems are typically weaker than adults. Same with Flu.

You're acting like E. Coli is godzilla, smashing down buildings and eating children. "Oh my God E. Coli is everywhere" "We cannot escape E. Coli" "We're all going to die from E. Coli"
Clearly you ignore the far more sinister influences in your environment. Cars kill people constantly. Non-tainted fatty foods lead to obesity, diabetes, and heart attacks. The sun causes skin cancer. The air you're breathing (likely polluted) causes lung cancer. You can get tetanus from stepping on rusty, sharp objects. You can get rabies from wildlife, ticks from walking in rural or mountainous areas, various diseases from mosquitoes, and all sorts of things. And you worry only about E. Coli? For shame. You could avoid it all your life, only to be run over by a truck and die. Oh, sure, I know what it can do, especially the very bad versions. That is exactly why I believe there is little to fear from it, as long as you're careful and go to the doctor. Worrying about things like this so obsessively can kill you too. Of course, I can't stop you from worrying about it--but it is in my opinion a sincere health concern if you cannot stop worrying about a single thing killing you, unless that thing somehow has become far more probable of killing you than, say, the others. |
