Not much to say now but...the colts lost to the chargers...
So, will we see 2nd string get playing time? |

I'd think so... pressure's off in any case.
Was great to see San Diego nearly blow it before capping it off with that stellar TD run. Can't believe Indy got flea flickers off twice at the end, don't see that every day. |

two trick plays...you'd think the d-coordinator would have watched out for that?
on the flip side, the 49ers and the Texans may heading towards a game that means something in two weeks as they are both 2-12 and their next games do not seem winnable for them. If that is the case, they they'll be playing each other for rights for the #2 pick, as the loser gets #1... |

It'd be interesting to have an expansion bowl...10 years after it was due
hm... I think seattle will make it all the way too. peyton will finally don the AFC champ hat. Dark Horse will be the bengals for me and Lovie for Coach of the year. |

yeah... the super bowl ended up being the packers versus the patriots in 1996--packers beat the panthers and the patriots beat the jags for the conference championship... both the jags and panthers were in their 2nd season...

Skip's Picks
Patriots vs. Jaguars Pats by 3, Brady leads Pats on a last minute drive for the win. Bengals vs. Steelers Bengals by 10, Palmer and co. are too much for the Steelers, and dominate the posession game. Colts vs. Pats Colts by 1, I want to say the Pats win, as a Patriots fan, but I don't think they can beat them. Manning and the Edge just can't be stopped with the D the Pats field. Broncos vs. Bengals Bengals by 7, after not getting enough credit for the Steelers game, they come out with a chip on their shoulder. Bengals vs Colts Bengals by 1, the only other offense than can hang with the Colts in the league takes charge and ends the Colts' dream season. Giants vs Panthers Panthers by 14. The Giants can't get the Panthers' O off the field, and roll under. Buccaneers vs Redskins Skins by 21, rolling into the postseason, the Skins are too hot for the Bucs to handle. Bears vs. Redskins Skins by 3, as the Bears, with a QB still catching up lose the battle in the air. Seattle vs. Panthers Seattle by 8, two words: Shaun Alexander. Seattle vs. Redskins Seattle by 10, two words: Shaun Alexander. Superbowl: Bengals: 22 Seattle: 21 Bengals go for two with the game on the line and win when Carson Palmer does a naked bootleg around the left side for the win. LOL IT CAN HAPPEN. Picks:
Wild Card: Patriots over Jaguars (Injuries make this an easy pick) Bengals over Steelers (I predict this to be close, home field may be the difference) Giants over Panthers (Tiki and Eli are on a roll, and Feely is over his streak) Redskins over Buccaneers (Payback for the incorrect call at the end of thier last meeting that almost knocked the Skins out of the playoffs) Divisonal Playoffs: Patriots over Broncos (Patriots are Shanahan's Everest - This could be close though) Seattle over Washington (Joe Gibbs is a great coach, but it will take a lot to gameplan a stop to Alexander that doesn't leave holes for Hasselback. The Redskins' only hope is to suddenly fix thier turnover problems, as if they accidently give the ball to Alexander they won't get it back.) Colts over Bengals (The Bengals might take a page from the Chargers and blitz every down, but they do not have the D-line and Linebacker strength and speed that the Chargers have and will fail at it. 14-2 is still really scary) Chicago over Giants (Eli will be forced to take minimal/no yard passes or get coverage sacked, making the Giants offense one-dimensional and forcing Tiki to beat Urlacher for any sort of gain) Conference Championships: Colts over Patriots (Patriots have gotten better, but they are in Indy's house and no longer have the same psychological advantage they used to have. This could easily be close but I believe the Peyton's ability to read defenses and the D-line's ability to pass rush will win the game for the Colts.) Chicago over Seattle (Chicago, with the addition of Grossman, is playing a nearly complete game that the mediocre Seattle defense will have trouble stopping. Alexander and Hasselbeck will probably not get entirely jammed but will have trouble producing like they usually do. Watch for turnovers here, as they could easily be generated and may well decide the game) Super Bowl: Colts over Chicago (Grossman is much better than Orton, but is rusty and still not fully developed. The Colts pass rush will pressure him and cause a mistake or two. Peyton must be very stingy with the ball, as a risky pass against a defense like Chicago can easily become an interception. Close, low-scoring game that the Colts will win.) I think these are pretty conservative picks overall. Giants v Carolina, Bucs v Skins, Pats v Broncs, and Seahakws v Bears will probably be the most interesting games to watch this year. |

Redskins beat the Bucs--redskins got lucky in that they only produced 120 yards of TOTAL offense , not to mention the dropped pass by #86 of the Bucs that would have ties the game
Pats beat Jags in a blowout--Leftwich did well in the first half for his ankle but could only muster 3 points. Jags defense did well until the 2nd half, that is when things broke wide open. One incomplete tackle by a maimed Jag linebacker lead to a 60+ yard TD pass and that was the game. Anyways, Bengals vs. Steelers should be a fun one |

Damn. If Palmer didn't get hurt, I'd say the Bengals take that one. I dunno, they seemed to have the momentum when Kitna stepped in for the first few series, but just kept losing steam.
Oh well, easier game for the Pats. |

And Palmer has a torn ACL. Nice way to end a season... going straight to rehab.
So now we have to wait another week for the Pats/Colts matchup. Bah. I have a funny feeling it's going to be Chicago vs. Indy/NE somehow. |

If the redskins find their way past the seahawks, then I believe Chicago is going to the super bowl. I'm not sure if the remaining NFC teams can stop alexander...
As for the AFC, Colts vs. Patriots for the 3rd, 4th straight year? |

It seems no one wants to discuss Giants/Panthers. Which is fine for me, because that was quite the meltdown by Eli. Dunno if it counts as a meltdown when everyone wants to see it, but still, how many INT's? Counting the one that got called back for pass interference, of course.

hehe...we don't talk about it because in that game, there isn't much to talk about...
Eli meltdown, indeed. I saw each of his picks (including the one called back for pass interference). All of them were bad throws. It appeared he couldn't read the defense or something because they were able to read him. However, I wouldn't place all the blame on him. The running game was going no where as Carolina's Run D showed up for a 2nd straight week. Two weeks before they allowed over 200 yards in ruhsiing. Because of no running game, everything was placed on him... |

Eli has the Manning curse it seems. Now can Peyton shake it off and doom poor Eli in the process...
I had the Giants winning this one for sure but... I dunno what happened. Horrid effort. |

Howabout that. Little Weasel Vick pulled a gun on some teens after an altercation in a frigging McDonalds. What a dope. |
